SKG as is is extremely detrimental to current games and you can see some of these effects on the german steam store: old games where there is no modern publisher or developer anymore just get removed because they cannot actually fill out the paperwork. Half of the steam store is just gone for germans. SKG is bad because it requires every game to be in a constant update cycle or otherwise you're not "repairing" the game and maintaining it, therefore they would be in violation of SKG, which means singleplayer games have to become liveservice games and to be sold with a warning that they only promise 1 year of updates, before they then get pulled from the store. This will lead games to be re-sold every year again if they did well and you have to re-purchase them again and again, because otherwise you cannot actually legally guarantee compliance with SKG. SKG is going to jumpstart a liveservice hell. inb4 "th-they'll do it right with this one!!", they never get it right. the gacha one contains provisions that games with glorified right wing themes are considered terrorism in the EU.
