Do you like gore in your videogames?
What's the goriest game you've ever played?
>>
Splatterhouse really isn't shocking by modern standards, but I like how relentless it is. Just screen after screen of nasty blood, guts, and bile. Used to make me feel sick to my stomach
>>
>>730639528
I do like gore. If it's an action game I want my enemies to absolutely fucking GET IT.
I also want my character to take serious visible harm when I fuck up. Just either way the kind of shit you can revel in.

I dunno the goriest game I've ever played, but the first thing that springs to mind was my surprise the gore level in Pavlov. When I was first playing around in PS5 VR, I got killed in Pavlov and spectated my own dead body: it was like a cannonball had gone through me from shoulder to butthole and I could see all kinds of organs and bones and whatever. That's consequences, that's catharsis.

Don't open this if you've got a weak stomach, this single screen changed a game from a T to an M.

The pushback against video game has always been so weird. Does shit still get censored a lot in Australia? I don't pay attention to that place

Why is Freddie Kruger killing a flayed Pim?
>>
>>730640912
It's okay he's saving his girlfriend.
>>
>>730640150
Bayonetta is great at this.

>>730639967
seriously anon? that's very tame. wrong pic?
>>
>>730639684
Oooooo! Chainsaw to the dick!
>>
>>730640912
That's not freddie Kruger, that's Candyman i think, or probably Goblins.
>>
>>730639528
>Do you like gore in your videogames?
No. I actively turn it off when it's an option.
>>
>>730641246
No, not wrong pic. That image is actually why God Hand has an M-Rating. There's no gore in the game, but the ESRB saw that image parodying other Capcom game warnings and decided that God Hand must have explicit violence and gore.

>>
>>730641538
Honest question since I'm not sensitive to this stuff. Does it actually help when they change the color of blood to green?
>>
>>730641750
You didn't play the game
You can slice heads off
>>
>>730642287
There is a single attack that can make an enemies head bloodlessly fly into the sky, that is really tame and not deserving of an M.

Splatterhouse 2 is also hard as hell, even if you're abusing save states.
>>
>>730642054
The green blood thing started mostly in Resident Evil and was to appease the Japanese censors, IIRC.

Mortal Kombat fatalities are art, this is like a genre of short film to me
>>
>>730639528
I don't mind it, but for me there has to be a plausible reason for it to be there otherwise it breaks the atmosphere.

For all it's faults Dead Island 2's gore system is pretty fucking robust and killing stuff just feels great in general.
>>
I like gore when it makes weapons feel more impactful. The Last of Us is probably the best example of this in AAA vidya. If you're a gorehound, it's gourmet shit.

Tales from the Borderlands has weirdly graphic fail screens for a game that's supposedly more sanitized than other Borderlands games.

Not really gory, but I remember letting my little sister play Super Metroid back in the day. She lost her shit when she saw the skin melt off of Crocomire. Then she dropped the controller and left the room when she ran the other way. Sometimes gore doesn't even have to be that explicit to get a proper reaction

Killing Floor 2 did it like a decade earlier, but updates and dangerhair hires broke the system. What a shame.

Absolutely, it's like an ultra-violent Looney Tunes short with a budget and spine-tingling crunch sounds. Say what you will about MK, but it carved out its own disturbing art form.

>What's the goriest game you've ever played?
I don't think I'd call it the goriest by far, but the only game that actually got to me and made me feel a bit repulsed was the burning deaths in Citadel. That shit is pretty fucked. I think it's because I could tell the artist was definitely into it.

>>730639528
Gears of War 2 was much more gorey than 1 or 3, unlike those games 2 didnt have generic red meat bits they modeled and painted anatomically correct bones muscles and organs on the gibs when you got a kill. But gore was a selling point back then. Does anyone even care anymore
