>good games don't flop
It's kind of true.
While a good game can always undersell, there are no truly hidden gems sitting at 20 reviews on the last few pages of Steam.
Just making a good game will get you far, because product discovery on Steam can be made by searching for tags and going through every game.
If the guy who played your game like it, he'll share the game with his friends, and thsoe friends will share with their friends, etc.

The only exception is when your game has a truly unique or very niche genre.
People will be put off because they are not confident that they'll like whatever experience you're promising them.

retarded steamie, steam is notoriously shit for this. they only sort games by revenue so you'll only be shown the best selling games for any tags or genre. people who look for obscure games quite literally use various third party sites to find games like steamdb instead of steam for this reason.

Nah, I go dumpster diving on Steam fairly regularly and exhaust all pages.
Tags are all you need.

top is right, some games just aren't lucky, it's like a business idea. it's a risk like any other, denying that fact is what's retarded.

Goods indie games need luck to get noticed. Good AAA games don't flop because eveyone knows about them.
