Game was lobotomised without Dybowski writing it.

HBombergay fans are happy Dybowski got kicked, people who played (and read) the game are not.

Darkwood 2 is next.

What now? Why don't they make a new IP without fucking up the others?
>>
>>730650795
Dybowski stepped down after the game was in post-production. I don't believe you actually care or have played any of them. This is one of the the typical 'pick up negative talking points from previous threads and attempt to poison discussion with them' threads you get on modern 4chan.
>>
HBomber fans are based and rigczpilled then. Doombowski is a fucking hack.
>>
The majority of the writing was done by Alexey Polyarinov and Alphyna. Dybowski's last involvement with the writing was Quarantine, the newer demos and the game are mostly written by others.
>>
I like the prose, which means it's good. This statement can't be rebutted.
>>
>>730651373
>Quarantine
But anon, quarantine is pretty much just less polished, day 4 of the game with less content
>>
>>730650795
Same writing as p2, I don't see the issue.

Is it ok to start with this one or do you need to play 1 and 2? never played any of them after i read some anon here say some shit like ''are games supposed to be fun'' when addressing the first one
>>
>>730651863
Just play 2. 1 is esoteric and you're more likely to bounce off it, and it's severely lacking in polish. 2 takes the Haruspex route from 1 and sticks the landing on it flawlessly.
>>
>>730651863
This is the most accessible entry, and you can play any order. P3 has a more emphasis on deduction, reading and managing a sanity meter, while P2 is more emphasis on survival management and trial and error gameplay. P1 is the most unforgiving from a gameplay perspective and the most esoteric, but it allows you to play as Changling.
>>
>>730651863
Just start with P2, its a great game more of a traditional story whereas P3 is a buggy mess at the moment, requires you to jump around in time constantly and basically assumes you know how P2 went.
>>
>>730651863
2 and 3 are same events from different povs (and game mechanics).
1 is very old.
>>
>>730652143
>and basically assumes you know how P2 went.
I disagree. The narrative utilizes in media res, and while having prior world knowledge will give you an easier time of figuring out what's going on, it is by no means a necessity, and the game makes a concerned effort explaining everything you need to know either directly or indirectly.

I can't find any info about this online, but Youtube videos seem to show the game running at 30 FPS on the PS5. What da frick? It looks like PS3 shovelware

>>
>>730652371
This is your first foray into slavjank I see.
>>
>>730652371
It's buggy and poorly optimized, play for the slavjank world building not the FPS. The loading screens for moving from one area to the other are slow and annoying

Has anyone said anything about the changling?

Is there going to be a fucking pathologic 4 before they finish "remaking" P1?
>>
>>730652272
P3 has many returning characters and I think does a much worse job of explaining the world and their motiviations, partly because Daniil is a foreigner and frankly autistically retarded.
In P2 there was always a shadow explaining the motivations, the plays at the end of each day always foreshadowed what was going to happen, whereas the plays in P3 seem much more about whatever's going in Daniil's head about not achieving anything.
>>
>>730652693
In p2 you interact with different characters. Haruspex almost doesn't interact with Cains, Eva, Julia, etc.

You really need both games for the full picture.
>>
>>730652586
pathologic 2/3/4 ARE the remakes of pathologic 1 anon
>>
Is the game good if I don't care about e-celebs?
>>
>>730653027
Thanks for posting you fucking illiterate brown.
>>
>>730653347
that is literally true, dont know what to tell you anon
and yeah they did confirm a changeling route is happening a while ago iirc
>>
>>730650795
What happened with Dybowsky? What does some youtuber have to do with it? I haven't been following nuPathologic at all.
>>
>>730653429
6 more years and then we're free.
>>
>>730652693
I haven't played P3 but isn't that be the point?
The Haruspex is a local returning home, his roots catching up to him which gives him a better read on the traditions and the more esoterical aspects of the culture there.
I'd expect Danill to focus more on the nitty gritty, the real stuff with logical explanations, even if it means completely overlooking the deeper meaning to everything.
Granted I haven't played 1 either so I don't know how it's supposed to go but he strikes me as the type.
>>
>>730653463
had a mental breakdown, beat up his ex-wife and father-in-law and attempted to kidnap his son.
>>
>>730653550
I think in P1 bachelor was meant to be a better into to the town, but in P3 with the day 5 start and other changes he's basically constantly confronted with magical beings causing him to go insane immediately.
E.g. He goes into a plague area in the tutorial and immediately gets attacked by a skeleton demon, and you don't even get to day 1 until very late in the story
>>
>>730650795
The writing was never good though.

Anyone else disappointed by how the albino is handled in 3?
It was one of my favourite moments of Bachelor route in Classic HD. All the supernatural elements with the kin are all just hearsay in the original and it feels right for the bachelor to be completely dismissive of it all.
That's why it made for such a great moment when you're sent on a wild goose chase into a remote part of the steppe relative to the explorable map, and suddenly out of nowhere you're hit with this weird fucking alien thing that makes Daniil start having a mental breakdown in a mechanic completely unique to that moment in the game.
In 3, you've already been fighting Shabnak for a few days and when you do meet the albino, you basically just stroll over and have a chat to it, with Daniil joking that he must be hallucinating it all
>>
Inventory mechanics went over my head. There is no point in keeping items and they are lost after the day is over right?
>>
>v is being contrarian again
>>
>>730651373
>Alphyna
Isn't that the BG3/Larian community manager? Or a different person?
>>
>>730655030
no they're kept inside clocks.
Clocks have 3 less slot than your inventory tho and the extra items are lost
there is also a drawer by your bed that seems to keep items between days
I think you lose your inventory the first time you end day 5
>>
>>730653463
>>730653580
It's also worth noting that he's an alcoholic and cheater, that's why his wife left him, then he assaulted her and her dad, then she sued him and he lost both of his jobs (IPL and a teaching gig at a uni), then fled to Cyprus.
>>
>>730655209
The economy is so easy that I barely use items anyway - there's plenty enough bins and swings to abuse to keep your sanity ok, it gives you the ammo you need for the important days where you need it, and treating the infected on the ground feels pointless as i'm not exactly struggling for amalgam.
I just keep like 70% mania and down health potions throughout the day, never really had to do any trading other than the odd coloured glass when there's a point on the map
>>
>>730655283
Not surprising, people here always jerk off over his promotion of the void ("artistic" nude chicks all over the shop) but just as it is with Tarantino or Kojima I always associate these types with insufferable douchebags or slimey pieces of shit. At least i respect yoko taro for just straight up saying that he simply likes butts.
>>
Does playing 1 cheapen the experience of 2 since 2 is apparently a remake 1 path and you would know the story or are there enough differences in plot or does it not matter
>>
>>730655649
I wish Hidetaka Miyazaki admitted that he just likes feet, but I doubt he ever will.
>>
Holy fucking shit. I can't find Tobacco on Day 2 anymore and it's driving me insane. No spoilers but do yourselves a favor and if you find Tobacco on that day then stuff it in the clock instead of using it. Jesus Christ.
>>
>>730655660
they are essentialy remakes of pathologic 1 but give the characters their specific quirks (so a pompous doctor character wont dig in trash like the folk healer character does, as a simple example). most of the story beats from 1 are in 2 with some differences, they have better writing or at least translations. anyone who tells you that pathologic 1 is amazingly written compared to pathologic 2 is getting high on his farts - most of the complexity comes from the translations being fucking garbage or the game being unfinished (changeling route). in anno domini 2026 you should just play pathologic 2 and 3, maybe try out 1 to play as changeling if you want more.

Anyone know what to do after finding the handkerchief in Young Vlad's drawer? Daniil comments it smells of sandalwood and that he's smelled it before that day but I've revisited every single NPC and found nothing. I'm inclined to think it's bugged.
>>
>>730656201
>anyone who tells you that pathologic 1 is amazingly written compared to pathologic 2 is getting high on his farts - most of the complexity comes from the translations being fucking garbage
Classic HD translation is fine? And yes, it is the best written of the trilogy.
>>
>>730654131
I agree with this 100 percent, this is exactly why the encounter with the albino is one of my favorite moments in the original and any game, its so well done. In general I loved how matter-of-fact any of the more surreal supernatural elements were presented in the original, it never drew attention to them at all and that made them more unsettling and captivating. I also really dislike how in 3 he immediately goes on a tangent about how the worms must have some unique deformity or something.
>>
>>730656649
Yeah I'll never forget that first albino encounter just because it's so unexpected - you're just wandering in the steppe round the perimeter of the abbatoir assuming you're not really going to find anything - then just see this lone weirdly shaped figure in the difference and your screen starts shaking like mad, which i'm pretty sure is the only time in the game where that happens.
Even as the player you've not seen anything too weird beyond the odonghs - but in 3 you're already desensitised to the supernatural elements when it happens

>>

ill be honest with you i completely forgot about that moment until you mentioned it just now
also you need to keep in mind that pretty much everybody who plays p3 has played p1/2 so that element of mystery is already gone for the vast majority of the playerbase

I remember one time I clowned the writer for Pathologic in a Steam review comment section of a “game” called Critters for Sale. Basically tried to convince me that artsy games with no gameplay are worth paying money for, but had absolutely nothing to say when I could just watch a playthrough on YouTube. He must’ve since deleted the comment because I went looking for it last night but couldn’t find it.
>>
That's it... I won't let this go! I'm going to complain.

It's Maria's hankerchief, I think you need to read all the letters in the office, one of them should be from maria. It's still bugged anyway for me since my journal thinks vlad the younger is both dead and alive even after maria saved him
>>
The town is lucky to have saviours like Dani and Artemy: if it was me, I would lock myself inside Stillwater for the 12 days, trying to charm Eva (it's funny that was what the investigator said we did if we didn't redo the early days).
>>
>>730658286
There's more than one letter? I've only been able to find one talking about a debt by Alexander, and I've visited Maria and I can't talk to her.

What's worse is the plot is just all a dream, it's why you never really see people discussing that bit yet call it a story first game

With smaller games like Critters for Sale, it's worth it. I'm not just paying for the game, I'm funding the dev making another game, which he announced last year I think. Also it was a great game, the dev deserves some money and if I dont pay him, who will? It's not exactly popular.
>>
>>730659758
Never mind. Figured it out. ;^)
Not sure if it's because I did a second ending but there's a cemetary POI on Day 12 now. Can't wait to see how much I regret this choice too.

the shabnak is seriously the worst part of this game. i wouldnt care if hunting her and the flower felt actually fun or strategic but it really doesnt
>>
>>730661958
Are they available in every infected district? I always just went to the closest one to the stillwater and managed to do it easily each day
>>
>>730663606
i think so, the problem is on later days you have two shabnaks and you have to light them on fire to tell if theyre real or not, so that takes more time. you can also just guess but if you fuck up you have to reload the save or get a new flower sample. i just dont find it very compelling
>>
>>730663702
Yeah I've got that already but it's still pretty easy if you just set manic to like 70% and just blitz around the infected district to find the other one. It would be more difficult if they both attacked you at once, but one of them runs away.
