I honestly think implementing achievements in steam was the earliest red flag that valve were going to become completely retarded as a company. They weren't smart enough to see how cancerous achievements were as a concept (even going as far as to try and tie unlocking weapons in tf2 into it) and so they weren't smart enough to avoid any of the later bullshit they did as well.
