I want a physical emulator that I can load up with ROMs, connect wirelss controllers to, and play the entire N64 library upscalled and at a good framerate on

is that too much to ask
>>
>I want a low powered PC.
Ok. Buy one?
>>
UltraHLE existed since the 90s dude
>>
>>730655215
>I want a PC
Ok go buy one
>>
>>730655273
>>730655402
N64 games run like ASS on my retropi
>>
>>730655273
>>730655402
Yeah, because N64 emulation always looks so fucking good.
>>
>>730655481
>>730655482
So buy the Analogue 3D?
I have one, its okay. The Pocket is way better.
>>
>>730655482
>Yeah, because N64 emulation always looks so fucking good.
It does in the current year if you don't use old shitty emulators like Project 64
Try Ares or Gopher64
>>
>>730655482
It has for 15 years+. Better than my A3d does. But the A3d is easy to set up for retards that I deal with with actual controllers and carts. Clicking a few buttons is too much for them (and you)
>>
>>730655481
>N64 games run like ASS
Yeah that's how they ran
>>
>>730655481
>>730655482
>>730655740
Emulation noobs. What Vulkan driver are you using? Don't tell me you're stuck on OpenGL.
>>
>>730655810
Where exactly did I ever mention playing on an emulator?
>>
>>730655740
I dont think the pi has enough juice to run them, some of the games are unplayable
>>
>>730656138
Which Pi?
>>
>>730656138
Just like on the N64
>>
>>730656324
Goldeneye didn't run at 10 fps on N64
>>
>>730655215
Probably worth waiting on the M64 to see how it turns out, since it will be open source and able to run other cores.
>>
>analog3d
>no analog video support
?????
>>
Gabecube will solve this
Also every other emulation in existence
Also your entire library
Fuck yeah I'm hyped.
>>
>>730656463
It did in some areas.
You never played it?
>>
any phone after 2019 can do this
>>
>>730656548
Honestly I really want the M64, but the fact that they're falling for Logan Paul's "yes i'm totally a pokemon nerd" grift is genuinely making me reconsider.
>>
>>730655482
Post an example of modern N64 emulation looking bad.
>>
>>730656782
I don't know anything about him and Pokemon, but he does seem to legitimately be nostalgic for the GBC. Which does line up with his age.
>>
>>730655215
>Automatically upscaled and adds frames
Not a thing natively. Maybe some sort of ungodly AI slop filter could be built into a console but gross
>>
>>730656463
Yeah it did sometimes, especially when things were exploding, or in 4 person mp
>>
>>730655215
here you go
>>
>>730656718
>>730657196
it runs at a stable 10 frames on my retropi, it's unplayble

now please please please shut the fuck up
>>
>>730657602
That's just how it runs bro.
Also which Pi do you have? I asked ages ago and you never replied.
>>
Jannies can you please start banning the OPs of these AI slop threads. You really think humans are posting these? Fuck off.
>>
>>730657681
i dont know which pi it is i made it years (2021 or so) ago and bought a nes case for it

NES and SNES games run fine, it just cant handle N64 games
>>
>>730657785
That's not AI slop though?
>>
>>730657785
dumbass
>>
>Featuring a superior quality HALL Effect joystick, with the original-style N64 gate
Okay so I'm going to let you guys in on a secret here: any N64 game that requires precise stick movement cannot be played on anything other than an original N64 controller. Go ahead, load up F-Zero X on your Switch. See how it controls like absolute shit because you can't make precise adjustments to your direction? Doesn't happen with a N64 controller.
>>
>>730657810
Thats very surprising, I have a Pi 2, its very old and it can handle PS1 games fine.
>>
>>730658010
PI 4 model B i just found the order in my email

but yeah it just runs the Retropi "OS" or whatever and the N64 games are borderline unplayble. not "bro thats just how they run", we are talking a power point slide show tier performance
>>
>>730658107
Then I think you configured it wrong, because I just booted up my Pi 2 from the 2010's and its playing Mario 64 at only slightly below my consoles performance.

I can help you with your settings if you like? I've been using emulators since the 90's.
>>
>>730658002
Yeah, yeah, several times the amount of N64 owners have beaten N64 games on modern sticks, hoard your plastic grinding devices and shove them up your ass.

>Go ahead, load up F-Zero X on your Switch. See how it controls like absolute shit because
-you're on switch sticks, the near bottom of the barrel before bootlegs.
>>
>>730658182
i dont know if there's anything that can be done, i just installed the retropi thing onto it and ported over a bunch of ROM packs

question though: I just downloaded a bunch of ROM packs and did zero sorting in them, so I have you know like three duplicates almost of each game - NTSC, PAL and JPN versions of almost each game. I was too lazy to sort it out, and other than being annoying to navigate surely this doesn't affect performance right? i main its literally just on the SD card
>>
>>730658394
No, that wont affect your performance.

But you need to configure your settings. You're getting worse performance than me on 4X more powerful hardware.

Have you ever looked at emulator settings before?

this little nigga looks grat, runs great and allows me to "link" my Pokémon Crystal save with Stadium 2
>>
>>730658509
no i just thought it'd run out of the box, i should sit down and purge the library too, having 3x games of just different version of the same game is kind of dumb
>>
>>730658624
>I thought it'd run out of the box
No.
If you aren't comfortable playing around in your settings, you should not be emulating honestly.

Want me to help you?
>>
>>730658693
do you run retropi also? if you could copy and paste your settings that'd be great

and again, gameboy, atari, nes and snes all run fine, it's just the N64 where it shits the bed
>>
>>730658781
I run Retropie, but an older version on older hardware.
You need to show me your current n64 emulator settings if you want me to help you.

A screenshot would be great.
>>
>>730656548
>>730656782
M64 confirmed to have analog output out of the box unlike that reddit company Analogue
>>
>>730658868
how do i find the settings? i just booted up the thing in the living room, is it under each emulator?
>>
>>730658295
>you're on switch sticks
No, I was on my 8bitdo Ultimate that has stupid gay Hall sticks. Look faggot I played the shit out of F-Zero X as a kid, it simply controls like shit on anything but an original controller, likely because longer sticks make it easier to do precise amounts of movement. Hell, even random fucks on Youtube have said the same:

https://youtu.be/nomRFWuUgF0?si=ULPitsk5tbZUirLz&t=569

The N64 controller's analog was just built different, and F-Zero X was specifically designed for that stick. You literally cannot play the game properly on anything else.

Oh boy, it gets better.

>The N64 controller's analog was just built different, and F-Zero X was specifically designed for that stick. You literally cannot play the game properly on anything else.
Your faggot video solved it with a $40 controller just by easing the deadzone.
>>
>>730659427
Wait are you saying 8bitdo make bad controllers? That's funny because they made the official controllers for the piece of shit OP is shilling lmao.

https://www.analogue.co/3d
>We worked closely with 8BitDo to design a wireless bluetooth recreation of the original N64 controller with a modern form factor

You are a dumb stupid faggot. The N64 controller sticks were optical, they had no dead zone and always re-centered perfectly. Shitty new controllers with forced deadzones due to garbage sticks simply cannot be precise enough because of that deadzone.
>>
>>730659068
I need to see your n64 settings anon.
If you cant find them, you *really* shouldn't be emulating.
>>
>>730659585
I'm asking for the opposite of the analogue 3d, how is that shilling

>>730659642
Thanks for the help i guess

Can someone please tell me how to get authentic fps on n64 emulators? They all run way too fucking fast. Tried both of the cores on retroarch.
>>
>>730659585
Yes, I am saying 8bitdoodoo makes bad controllers. I don't give a singular fuck about the latest anal log scam, I'm here to laugh at plastic grinder cultists.

>>730659751
You can't.
>>
>>730656782
They're not "falling for" anything, they're using him to market
The fact it works perfectly on a CRT and 4K upscaling is good enough for me
I'm sold
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEARniSPC74
>>
>>730659807
Surely there has to be a way? All the games just feel wrong when played at 3 times the fps they're supposed to have. Some are outright broken because of this.
>>
>>730657102
>Not a thing natively
It absolutely can be if you overclock the CPU
Of course it won't work well on frame optimised games
>>
>>730659931
There isn't. I think the flavor of the month for accuracy these days is ares, but no one's seeking actual real hardware performance for very good reason.
>>
>>730659931
i wish i had this problem, my n64 games run at a third of the fps instead
>>
>>730659696
I can help more if you give me any screenshots
>>
>>730659751
Make sure Framerate is original and not full speed
>>
>>730660019
>but no one's seeking actual real hardware performance
I am.
Adding extra frames/huger resolutions to an old game is like colourising a black and white film.
>>
>>730660058
the thing is hooked up in my living room i can't take screenshots, i dont even know where to find the options, there was a menu called retropie which had some settings, but if you cant even tell me where to go to provide info it doesnt sound like you are super versed in retropie either

i turned the system off now
>>
>>730660124
Be honest, when was the last time you touched a N64? I haven't used mine in... I don't know, must be near to 20 years at this point and I still remember the single digit slowdowns vividly like it was yesterday.
>>
>>730660112
it's on original, shit still runs at like 60 or over when it's supposed to be 20 something.
>>
>>730660371
Sounds like you've got a mismatch somewhere in the settings
Have you got it forced on 60fps sync or something?
Which are you using, Mupen with Parallel is recommended
>>
>>730660295
nta but so what? Some of us want the original experience. Plus, those slowdowns are taken into account in some games, breaks things in others, and you're unable to do fun glitches in some of them as well due to the too high fps.
>>
>>730660535
>>730660371
Also sync to exact content framerate in settings>frame throttle, is that your problem
>>
>>730660295
I have one set up in my living room, was using it just before Xmas for a few weeks with my wife.
Why do you ask?
>>
>>730660295
NTA but I played it last year with Majoras Mask Redux
Great QoL improvements to the game
>>
>>730655215
once they figure out how im sure the analogue3d will be able to use roms. the pocket has already been hacked.
>>
>>730655215
I think it's funny that you want all this sophisticated equipment just to play the godawful Nintendo 64 library.
It's like someone wanting a 120-inch OLED TV calibrated, with HDR and everything, just to watch Ugandan movies.
>>
>>730661084
Why not just use a flashcart?
>>
>>730661123
30 years later and people on here are still seething about the 64
>>
>>730660229
You cant take a photo of your TV with your phone?
>>
>>730661125
They have inconsistent support on the Analouge. Some work, some don't. Some work for some people and not for others.
>>
>>730655215
Few people have ever experienced the crooked cartridge glitch
>>
why not just buy an N64 and a flash cart
>>
>>730661241
Isn't it FPGA?
shouldn't it just instantly launch into the game when you turn it on
>>
>>730661304
>Isn't it FPGA?
Yeah, it is. They said they're working on it, idk
>>
>>730660535
yeah it's mupen. I don't have 60fps sync enabled I don't think, the sync under frame throttle is also disabled. Do I use parallel for the RDP and RSP plugins, both of them?
>>
>>730661241
The SummerCart works fine, and it's also the cheapest N64 flashcart available.
>>
How do I tell if my N64 cart is a repro?
>>
>>730663597
Open it up.
>>
They're at the store.
