Just got an OLED TV, any recommendations for games with some good blacks?
>>730657134That's too based a choice for a monitor
>>730657134Left 4 dead 2
>>730657134>games with some good blacksKiller7
I meant black screens and dark environment not black people (no offense)
You shouldn't be using an OLED for a desktop PC. The UI elements still burn in.
>>730657690I beat a 30 hour long game and nothing burned in
>>730657134Cyberpunk and Wukong are visually impressive with great HDR calibration. Most games these days look washed
>>730657846Not game UI.Desktop PC, like menus and tabs.If you just browse the internet for hours on end on an OLED for example.
Resident evil 5
>>730657985>>730657690Wasn't OLED supposed to have an anti burn in system where it changes each pixel in an unnoticeable way or something? What a fucking disaster
>>730657134Og doom 3 with resolution mod, shit is cash money. Just don't go for BFG edition they brightened that game up and made it gay.
>>730657134walking dead has one of the best blacks in gaming
>>730657134Silksong
>>7306579857000+ hours. No burn in
this is like literally the 10th oled shill thread ive seen in a few days
>>730658095the anti burn in just burns in all the pixels evenly lolbtw anyone considering oled in this thread, for any model thats at least 1 year old just google "[model] burn in" and you will get resultsthey can last a few years if you dont get light on them and you leave it the default super dim setting.anyone saying they dont is retarded though.not worth the money to baby them atall
>>730660725This, is like fixing a scratch in your wood table by sanding down the entire table to match the scratch. Except for a table you can refinish it to actually bring it back up to par, but for an OLED monitor you're just stuck with a permanently dimmer screen. And agreed on the babying thing. Could I make it work? Could I autistically set everything to dark mode and get rid of all desktop icons and hide taskbar and full-screen everything and remove all top toolbars and replace my wallpaper with a black screen and disable all HUD elements in games? Yeah, sure. But fuck that, I don't want to deal with that. Just give me the IPS.
>PC on desk actual retard shit
>>730660915ips does have shit motion blur. having a TN for gaming and an IPS for normal usage is the way i do it.its nuts people will babysit a display they paid more money for lolthe image quality is not really significantly bettermost noticeable thing for me with oled was the text fringing. actually had a hard time reading text in anything on it
>>730657134I hope you didn't get an LG 2024 or laterThey all have hideous dithering whenever the subpixels are under rgb 50, forced sharpening and forced vignetting that adds ugly banding by dimming the edgesIt's so bad LG actually ended up paying me hundreds of euros with their cashback offer when i refunded their shitty G4>>730660725I had an LG C1 for years until it broke and they replaced the panel with a shitty WBE that can't display whites without looking pink or green, never had burn in despite using it on games where the screen barely movesThe only "problem" was low brightness and forced sRGB colors in gaming mode, like it's technically correct but some games just look better when mapped to dci-p3
>>730660593Maybe people like OLED
It's a shame plasma is kill. If they kept making advances with that tech, who knows how it'd be nowadays. It's the only flat panel display tech to even come close to CRTs in terms of motion clarity. I still use one in my living room.
>>730657134>Just got an OLED TVenjoy having to replace it in 3 years time
>>730657134GTA San Andreas
>>730661425Why, are you going to borrow it Leeroy?
>>730661062>ips does have shit motion blurThat Nvidia Pulsar shit is really promising for fixing that. I'm gonna boughted it.
>>730660246settings?
>>730660987Why?
>>730661668what?
>>730661763what settings are you using?
>>730657134FF16 pretty much fried my retinas in a good way on my Bravia 8ii
>>730660246>HDR off
>>730661146Its an LG C4 2024>>730661980Cool I've kinda had a hankering to replay it for some reason
>>730661425Someone tell my 7 year old C8 and 4 year old C1 that they will burn-in at ANY MOMENT NOW
>>730657134Doom 3
>>730657134Binary Domain
>>730661425in all fairness the tvs seem to last a lot longer than the desktop monitorsif i had to guess its probably something to do with the true refresh rate. tvs dont have the same anti ghosting type refresh rate that gamer monitors have which i htink puts a lot of wear on the oled panelits prolly like 5 years for a tv, 2 or 3 years for a monitor without touching the brightness settiongs
>>730661934the default "Gamer 1" preset, 60% brightness, 50% contrast. Unless the game is HDR which then it's 100% brightness
>>730657134you probably not gonna like it but all the games with the best HDR support are Sony games. God of War, The Last of Us, Gran Turismo, Horizon, Astrobot, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, etc. Most game devs truly don't care about HDR, especially Capcom with their grey blacks, but the remake of Resident Evil 4 was actually good, probably their only game with decent HDR.
>>730661326While my old 1080p Panny Plasma still looks great, it uses a metric fuckton of power. It doubles as a space heater for my living room. It also weighs like 10 times what my 55" OLED TV does. Plasma was great because you could actually fix the burn in by just finding a static channel and letting it run for an hour or two. My shitbox 720p LG plasma got a little burn in, and a few hours of static fixed it right up. 10 years later, it's still running strong.
>>730660915>Could I autistically set everything to dark mode and get rid of all desktop icons and hide taskbar and full-screen everything and remove all top toolbars and replace my wallpaper with a black screen and disable all HUD elements in games? This is how I use my PC and I don't even have an OLED.
When does the burn-in start? I keep hearing /v/ say my TV will catch fire at any moment.
not falling for the OLED meme
>>730663545>not even 2 yearssoon
>>730657134OG silent hill 2
>>730657134Resident Evil 2 Remake. It's shrouded in shadows and dim lighting so a well-calibrated display can properly showcase the details without washing out the image. Every TV/monitor I had before my LG C2 made this game look grey and dull, on my OLED it looks stunning especially with RT.
>>730663692this, fuck oledhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRGwzbnuLJA
>>730657134Abiotic Factor can get very dark when the lights are out
>>730663224>>730664151>especially Capcom with their grey blackswhat the hell is up with that? pissed me off playing re8, had to turn everything way the fuck down to the point where I couldn't see shit half of the time. is it better with RE2 and RE4?
>>730664151Too bad its got lcd anti-soul gas
>>730657690only if you play for 8 hours a day every day for years. The only thing you need to do if you have an OLED monitor or TV used as monitor is to removed the fixed-taskbar from your desktop and either try to use a static black wallpaper or a moving one that doesn't have a single image if you leave it on your desktop for long periods of time. The other shit about htis being dangerous for the image is a massive cope, I've used an S90D as my desktop for over a year and there's zero burn-in even though I have it on and open every day for 16 hours.
>>730657134Get a wider table first, that shit is too close, rip your fucking retinas.
>>730657134
>>730663746I've had it since 2019, retard.
>>730658325Not him but I think I have BFG on Steam. Are there mods to fix it?
>>730657134Assuming you have a decent PC... Darktide looks great.
gone homo in space
>>730663692>>730664176Poorfag cope!
>>730657134Keep it on /pol/
>>730665002Google or YouTube how to properly adjust the game, but yes, it does use a lot of elevated blacks.
>>730664151>Resident Evil 2 Remake*with RenoDX
>>730665002this. game looks like total shit without RenoDXbut with it? ZAMN
>>730661425My almost 8 year old lg c8 looks great still
>>730661994It's way too bright at night honestly
>>730666372The west has fallen...
>>730661425My C1 is about 4 years old and there's nothing to report. Looks great.Considering all manufacturers dropped the ball on gaming features on later models I can't even buy a new one anyway lmao
>>730657134Pic rel.
>>730665210People sit too far from these high resolution screens in general.
>>73066024614k on my C2 here and same, 0 burn in. Just don't crank your brightness like an ape they they should last a long, long time. Even if it starts burning in it will take even longer until it gets to the point it bothers me.
Detroit: Become Human
>>730657134I'll buy a new monitor when we have 8k 1000hz monitors capable of integer scaling to 4k and 1080p.Until then I am content with my 1080p 60hz chaditor.
>>7306671244k already can scale 1080p...?
>>730660725OLED is well-matured nowadays, to the point that, if you get an actual decent model and don't buy monkey-made shit, burn in is not a factor anymore at all.
>>730657134>any recommendations for games with some good blacksDamn that's kind of a hard one. >GTA San Andreas>Mafia III (though honestly it's worse than the first two games)>Elder Scrolls as a Redguard>Prototype 2>The Walking Dead before Lee dies>Deep Space 9: The Fallen
>lg ultragayare they that good?
>>730667507cool. like to name any models so i can google results for burn in? they literally all have it if theyre at least 1 year oldsame exact shill post every generation. burn in solved saars is no problem :)and yet it still happens
>>730657134Try Grand theft auto: san andreas
>>730668205I dare you to burn in an LG C5, my friend's got one, been playing games and watching movies left and right with it, not sign of burn in at all
>>730668205just set the brightness to 0 and play in a pitch black room retard
>>730663237Those are all true, but again, we're comparing modern tech to something died like 15 years ago. When you compare early plasmas to late plasmas, there was already a lot of advancement. Weight had gone down, power draw had gone down, screen retention had gotten better, and so on. I just wish plasma didn't die, maybe if we let it develop some more, it would have overcome its weaknesses.
