Vee still plays gaems right?

I’m impressed by this game so far it ran flawlessly on raw Debian with zero tinkering (except for loading vulkan shaders taking a while, fixed by loading in game not in steam) just native proton.

It’s a bit like palworld without the pals, or maybe V rising or Minecraft just an open world base builder but has pretty decent quest engagement at the same time. Almost everything is destructible. like Minecraft, you can dig straight down and end up in lava after like an hour. Graphically it’s really fresh. The music is not great? Shrouded areas are actually unsettling

It's a very resource heavy game though which luckily you can tweak a bit. That aside i hate how small some item stacks are or that you need to have said items in you inventory to build housing instead of using them from the magic chest. I agree with the rest of your points though.

I've heard this game is underrated but I still haven't brought myself to get it yet, I was tempted after seeing the water update they posted a bit back
>>
seems good, for some reason i just cannot get past the weird, ugly proportions that make your character look like a strangely tall midget.
>>
>>730661389
Can you not adjust the head size? it's the head size
>>
>>730661436
its everything. head too big, torso too long/legs too short, arms too long. your arms generally end where your pockets are, in this game they end well below where a pocket would be.

they really just need to make the legs longer.

idk, its a manlet game.

I tried the beta a couple years ago on my 1080ti + i7-8700 setup and it was literally unplayable, like fluctuated between 5 and 15 fps. Obviously my setup is poverty tier at this point but even in UE5 slop I've never seen anything perform so poorly. I really dislike the UI too, looks cheap and slapped together.
>>
It's ok, I'm in the start of the game. Just unlocked the huntress but the long processing times on items look like they could be a problem. Does it really need to take 60 minutes for 10 berries to dry? About to go unlock the farmer, spend some time finding a good base location and then make a nice home.

Just wait until you need to chain logistic items. It's worse than factorio or rimworld while waiting for resources to be made since you also need to harvest other resources to build the machine, and you'll require multiple machines to really get the volume you want.
>>
>>730661389
Yeah I hate the weird proportions, but it doesn't bother me once I put on armor.

Just use a custom world difficulty to cut down on the tedium bits like craft times, it doesn't make them instant or anything so that it'd feel like cheating, but if you're playing solo it really helps to set the crafting timers to run at like 150% speed.

How much do you have to engage with building?
I saw those videos are you get impressive options, but it also looks like constructing a decent looking base would take a very, very long time.
>>
>>730662937
You barely have to touch the base building stuff.
You have to give villagers a bed with a roof over it. That's about it.
You can just cram them all in a featureless barracks if you want.
>>
>>730660341
i bought this game due to the high praise but it was shit

characters are ugly as sin, the combat is really bad, the "friendly npcs" are glorified crafting menus
>>
>>730662937
>>730663293
Oh, and if you want a nice base without building anything you can just take an existing building or town and claim it as your base.

It's very, very mid. Poor game balance and lots of low-quality hours spent grinding resources. It's visually impressive with a great building system, though these are surface level things and will fail to distract you from the moment-to-moment gameplay.

It took me like 10 minutes to make this thread, not my fault shalomchan sucks.

Its fun. The open world exploration really makes the world feel big. Although almost too big at times.
The building is really the standout feature. Its got enough detail, enough material choices that you can really run wild with it. But it has a HUGE flaw in that you can only make 90 degree walls. Anything on an angle, or god forbit a curve, has to be built one voxel at a time, which is a complete waste of time. Otherwise the fine tuning of building, and the decorating your base and stuff is great.
I'm also not a huge fan of forcing you to use NPCs as crafting stations. I much prefer a loner type of experience and having to keep these empty NPCs around, and yet still have to build them crafting stations and shit, is annoying as hell to me personally. It makes sense story wise, but I've never been a "town builder". I like building personal bases.
Combat is also kind of weak. Its serviceable but has zero depth. And since ALL you do outside of building is combat its a bit too shallow. Double jump into slam attack will win you nearly every encounter. Also the stupidly long undead dungeons are a fucking grind.

I sound pretty down on the game, but I think all those criticisms are relatively mild. Its a fun game and I could sit around and build in it for actual days. In my last world I had like 4 bases just because I was trying out different designs. I've never even been to the snowy area yet. I'm hoping to do a world with friends soon and try out all the new water stuff.

I hosted a Valheim server for friends and we had tons of fun but we are probably out of steam to start a similar game from scratch. How does it compare?

The game is sort of designed so you go off and do something else while plants grow and the longer crafting times happen. The world is absolutely massive and the quest list is long and involved. So there's always something to do.
It can be pretty frustrating if you need like 1 dried fur for armor or whatever, but I just always keep as many of the stations busy as I can at all times and it works out.
>>
>>730663293
I would probably put a bit more effort into it than stuffing everyone into shacks. I gave people decent houses in Terraria, when you don't really need anything more than a commieblock.
Preset buildings would be good.
>>
>>730664314
I like it more than valheim but that's only because the mistlands and ashlands crashed my fun having with no survivors. This game might have a similar problem later on but I haven't reached that point yet
>>
>>730664407
The big feature of the game is building. If you're not into that I wouldn't recommend it at all.
The only other thing it offers is an absolutely massive world with a lot of combat, which is altogether too shallow for how much of it you'll be doing.

Just post in one and leave the other to die? OP double posted but at least he didn't ragebait like 99% of the other faggot OPs and it actually looks like he wants to discuss vidya
>>
One thing I both love and hate about the game is that 90% of the time you really have to set up and prepare to go out, because it takes so fucking long to get anywhere. You're constantly looking for high spots to get a good glide distance toward your destination and considering dropping altars or whatever they're called for fast travel.
On the other hand, inventory is an annoying scramble because dungeons and whatnot are overly big, so you're constantly trying to balance keeping the good loot, keeping the 3 foods and whatever potions you need, god forbit you need spell consumables too.

It really feels like going out on an adventure when you're prepping, but the tedium of going through some of the dungeons is a bit much.

Probably the biggest qol I miss is not being able to use items that are already in my base in chests
That and I can’t quick move from inventory an entire stack to a chest on keyboard ( but I can do this on controller)

I feel like I’m playing a game meant for gen A/Z but it’s still pretty fun
