>Horrifically incredibly insanely bad writing

>Ruined 10+ years of hype and buildup about Sylux
I haven't been so burned by a game in my entire life. I waited 18 years and this game is barely a 6.5/10

>AKSHULLY DESPITE IT BEING WORSE IN EVERY SINGLE MEASURABLE WAY I THINK THIS GAME IS BETTER THAN PRIME 3
>>
They should just update Prime remake for Switch 2 and make Prime 2 remake and then call it a wrap

I have anti Metroid Prime 4 fatigue
>>
>even Nintendo/Retro came out and admitted they knew the game was in a bad state but they had no choice but to release it anyway
Hard time to be Nintendo cattle kek. Hopefully the February direct saves them

That really blew my mind but it gave me a little hope for Prime 5. Nintendo NEVER admits to falling short.
>>
My biggest complaint is how little platforming I've seen so far.

I love it.

Prime 3? You mean Other M? Prime 3 might not have been as good as Prime 2 or Prime, but its still a quality game and worth playing. Other M was the other dogshit Metroid game, the first bad game to bare the Metroid name.

Other M was shit too, don't get me wrong, but I didn't wait 18 years for Other M, nor did Other M have a decade of dev time after it was announced. They announced it at E3 2009 and it came out in 2010 it had a 2.5 year dev cycle, it was well received by critics and sold enough copies to make a profit despite the poor reception with fans. Its hard to look at these two piles of shit and say Prime 4 was somehow better than Other M. They're both shit, but Prime 4 was a monumental disappointment on top of being shit.

I picked up 7 games on steam for that price. I don't know why you are buying AAA games these days. Brand loyalty? You are cucked.

The number of bad Metroid games is almost equal to the number of good ones, and that really sucks. Why us?
>>
I'm just glad this pile of dogshit failed so spectacularly it convinced me to try Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime 2 remaster had better be announced at the direct.

Literally anything would have ruined that shit.
Did you not learn shit from Duke Nukem Forever?
If something is stuck in development hell, then it is usually stuck there for a reason.
A game made by a professional studio should not take more than 3-4 years to finish unless they have had to discard the majority of their work while doing so.

Free Agent Games like Metroid require a very large level where progress feels like it is achieved entirely through your own agency, and that requires very coherent development.
Coherent development took a nosedive sometime in the mid-2000s.
Even a praised Metroid like Dread is very incoherent compared to any actual standard of quality.

I wonder if we'll ever figure out what the hell happened with Metroid Prime 4's development. I'm sure it'd make a fascinating documentary. We get game development documentaries and they're glorified fluff most of the time, but man I'd love to see how you spend 10 years developing a game that sucks even after restarting development with a whole new studio. Like two entirely different teams took a crack at Prime 4 and they were both a disaster, one so bad it never saw the light of day and now THIS, and THIS was the better one of the two.

What I want to know is how was anyone caught off guard. Look at every single Nintendo release before this game. An entire 6 months of mid games being sold at a $70 premium. And yet people were shocked?

Its a disappointment, with a clear head its a 6~7/10, but after 18 years and 10 years since the announcemnt that feels like a 3/10 to those who have been waiting for it.

Its like if HL3 came out after all this time, and sucked.

In broad terms we know development under Bamco ended in disaster but too much money was put into the project to back out so they gave it to Remedy but forced them to keep the desert in because open world games were all the rage. And clearly Remedy couldn’t make it work so what we got is the product of 8 years of bad decisions and compromises.
