The Intel Arc B580.
12 GB VRAM for $249.
Realistically, what can it not run?
Very tempting given that NVIDIA drops all gaming driver support this year and controlled/cousin competition AMD will follow.
>>
It can't run AI Image generation which is the whole point of these cards these days.
>>
>>730664578
Ah, so this is why Nvidia, AMD, and Microsoft bought shares of Intel, so they can become the "consumer" brand as the big boys slowly exit the space entirely.
>>
>>730664578
>what can it not run
emulators, old games, anything recent. you're basically stuck in the 2018-2022 era with a piece of shit like this.
also the xess upscaler is terrible. spend $400 on a 5060 ti 16gb at the very least.
>>
>>730664578
>Realistically, what can it not run?
UE5 slop without upscaling / framegen, but that's like every card on the market atm.

>NVIDIA drops all gaming driver support this year
the fuck are you talking about ?
>>
>>730664578
It can't run 4K, if you don't have at least 16GB VRAM these days you're fucked
if you only plan on doing 1440p you might be fine maybe perhaps but its hard to say because of lack of support for intel GPUs
>>
at least in theory it should run every game that is out currently.
but i don't know if i'd trust intel. i'd spend a bit more money and go for 5060ti or 9060xt
>>
>>730664578
mogged by the 1080ti LOOOOOOOL
>>
>>730664578
not worth investing in untill it can run emulation or generate porn.
modern video games aren't worth playing.

I have one and have used it with many different configurations and here is my warning
>shockingly great if you have
CPU and socket to support DDR5 RAM
1440P or higher screen resolution
typically use FSR
Avoid DirectX 12
>near unusable if you have
anything else
>>
>>730664687
Emulators are mostly CPU bound.
>>

>brownoid non-games
Nice retard sounds, nigger
>>
>>730664578
can run any modern slop
with intel xess scaling even 1440p or 4k

>>
>>730664578
If you don't care about using AI then just buy it.
>>
>>730665537
Not about performance, but drivers. Emulators often rely on obscure instructions that Arc either don't implement correctly or don't implement at all. Same reason why Nvidia is often better than AMD (on Windows) for emulation.
>>
the GPU market is so beyond fucked I stopped caring
maybe Intel will be truly the saviour with a Battlemage release and 16 to 24GB priced accordingly
everything turned to AI scaling and framegen slop anyways that even entry GPUs feel fine

why do i buy this over a sub 300 dollar amd card or a 9060 xt or like 1080 ti /2080 ti
>>
>>730664578
You are gambling big time buying ARC. Intel is probably going to kill the whole product line, which means zero drivers updates or improvements, so you'll be stuck with the hald-functional current day drivers, or hoping for a super dedicated team from FOSS to pick it up.
>>
>>730665086
Remember when they released this piece of shit with no steering at all? The backlash made them implement it later, but what's even the point if tracks are designed like this?
>>
>>730664891
the 1080 ti mogs all nvidia gpus under the 70 seiries lmao
>>
>>730667869
modern games are all slop
being able to play old games is more important and iirc the b580 had some dx9 issues
did they ever fix that?
>>

Tell me you don't own one, never will, but LOVE sucking Taiwanese cock without telling me.

LMAO tick tock gamer.
>>
>>730669415
Since you mention this, how's Arc drivers under Linux? One would expect them to be pretty good since Intel always had good open source support
>>
>>730665515
I've heard before that if I don't have one of the X3D Ryzens I shouldn't bother. There are a few for AM4 sockets but I guess people who said so tested this with AM5 ones.
Also what's wrong with Arc used at 1080p?
>>
>>730665515
Love my B580 but agree here, it helped that I built a new system around it.
Gamers in general don't realize how much weight a modern MOBO/RAM/CPU combo can pull and the B580 in particular loves Arrow Lake and CUDIMM RAM.
Absolutely mogging all the B580 specs reported by YouTubers/Redditors that just slotted one into an older system.
Currently my B580 system is for gaming and my 5080 system is now for work and slop and I don't see that changing for many years given the lack of AAA titles on the horizon.
>>
>>730668403
>emulation
Only poorniggers emulate and since PC building is a rich man's hobby I don't see how this is relevant to anyone but a failed-to-launch eterna-virgin trapped in the past.

Get a used 3060 12gb for 200 on ebay before Nvidia starts reproduction. "Buy it now" only and offer 20-40 less depending on the condition.
>>
>>730669197
I imagine you'd have to be a retarded eceleb consuuming nigger if your B580 build is running worse than a 4070 Ti build, much less a 4060 one.

I also want to stress DO NOT GO ARC. Intelaviv has no idea what it's doing right now and is branching itself out too far and thin, these fucking things are going to go the same way optane memory did. They do not have the same infrastructure for GPU's as they do their regular processors, god forbid you bought one of those too as they're even fucking those up now.

Intel tried graphics cards and failed over 20 years ago and this time is going to be no different because they cannot compete worth a piss. They make the retarded mistake of trying to be "innovative" with their attempts at copying others and it always ends up with a hilariously bug riddled roachnest of a product.
>>730670909
I was recommending it for those wanting to use it for AI too. It's a fantastic entry level card, 12gb of memory on the RTX lineup and Nvidia is going to make them again which means future support.
>>
>>730664687
I literally play ps2 games upscaled to 1080p with a b580 & an i3 9100f every day though
>>
>>730671312
keyword: inefficiently

just because it runs, doesn't mean the GPU is properly used and properly emulates all instructions
>>
I have a 3060 12gb, I feel like I should upgrade, I only play in 1080p, should I just bite the bullet and get a 5060 ti 16gb for 520$?
>>
>>730672540
Don't worry, now that the 3060 is being rereleased you are current again
>>
>>730671893
I guess that is the keyword if you're a faggot that makes shit up & lie. The b580s drivers have been fine & were fixed 6 months after release & have better dxvk support than some amd cards but you can stay mad I'm enjoying premium pc gaming for the price of a console
>>
>>730664578
>Very tempting given that NVIDIA drops all gaming driver support this year and controlled/cousin competition AMD will follow.
Linux will be unaffected in terms of AMD. Some autist added Vulkan support for graphics cards that are not designed for it.
>>
>>730672646
literally no emulation dev gives a fuck about the arc lineup. it's not up to intel. if you get your 30 frames in a switch emulated game, a 1060 will match your performance even if it's 2x slower.
>>
>>730669765
Last time I heard, they were on par with windows drivers in terms of stability.
