I saw a video a couple days ago on DKC3, and the youtuber unironically complained about this level because you had to wait hanging on the lever thing before proceeding

Now this part i can agree it's total ass.
I never pick the Alucard route in this game for the sole reason that i don't want to go through this level.

it's not as bad as autoscroller levels in platformers, but still it's basically like super mini autoscrollers inside level. it's not biggest deal, but it's still valid complaint.

Its a shame too since the rest of his levels are great, but this particular section just ruins it. its not as bad with Alucard as he can just fly to the top, but anyone else its a complete slog.

Alucard can just fly up so it's not that bad. What is bad is that the boss on that stage is really hard after the stage itself already being the hardest in the game. I only beat that stage by getting the holy water at the beginning of it and then getting through the rest of it without dying at all.
