I found out about this weird rabbit hole of Russian steam bot accounts and they're leaving positive reviews on some AAA games like OW2. I can't really think of a good explanation for this other the the studios are buying reviews; however, there also wasn't a really a big enough swing in review score to justify the reputational risk here, so I feel like there might be more to it

Classic Heroes thread. This old video still holds up pretty well https://youtu.be/81nhkIPdzk4

its most likely a PR company, the type that other companies pay to handle "social media presence". Which includes promoting the clients games and saying negative things about competition.
Since its kind of a grey area anyway, their methods arent really questioned.

Remember when OW used to be at like 20%? Mixed looks a lot better desu

what keyword in my post triggered this bot?

I mean people were downloading it just to leave bad reviews when it came out on steam, no real need to do that anymore

There is a literal forum that pays poor Russians pennies (+the cost of a game) to go buy a game (often with a temporary heavily reduced price), "play" it for at least 2 hours and leave a positive review to brute-force them into Steam's algorithm, cause games with <10 reviews (ones who received the game from a key or via being directly granted the game via Steam magic don't count, has to be purchased) don't show up on most of Steam's search systems unless you dig really, really deep.

>Steam now requires a $5 purchase before being able to write reviews
Increase the threshold if the problem persists. Good or bad move?

>some AAA games
>only posts one
china isn't sending their best

Has no practical impact unless you also start banning these accounts.
But if you start banning accounts for "being reviewbots" or whatever, then some dipshit is going to try and weaponize the system to witchhunt legitimate players.

Destiny 2 is in the image as well

Are you going to speculate on the deeper plot?
