Which driver deserved to win the most?
>>
No Face
>No eyes
>Can somehow drive his car (game manual says he does this via ESP btw)
>Can somehow see the doctor's face in his ending

I dont know but I went back to playing this game since a kid and got so fucking infuriated i quit. The AI just gangs up on you and the driving physics are so stiff. I wish the AI actually fought off-screen like a real MP match. They only fight each other if they are currently being rendered

still absolutely LOVE the atmosphere. It really reminds me of condemned for some reason. People dont understand unless they grew up in the east coast rust belt or upstate NY depressing cities

It's that "Y2K late 90s/early00s edgy, dark and gritty" aesthetic
>>

Pretty sure Calypso went and captured the doctor and had him tied up. Dude was shuffling around and making noise so regardless of the ESP shit it was pretty obvious he was directly in front of him when handed the boxing glove.
>>
>>730685906
Yeah that's all true, but the dialogue and visual framing of the shot makes it seem as if he can literally see the doctor.

Did you know that Twisted Metal: Black almost had a direct sequel? It would continue the story of each driver in a dilapidated open world city that connected each arena via highways.

Some unfinished builds have been leaked lately:

I love that series like you wouldn't believe. Spent my adolescence playing lots of TM4. In the back of my Dragula

Btw there's a game I'm following since the latest TGA that may scratch /our/ interest in car combat. I don't feel they quite got the DNA right since there's some crafting, but could be nice.

If anyone knows of any other title that is similar to TM, I'm all ears.

Not really a car combat game but I think Quarantine (1994) captures that Y2K edge

since 'winning' earns you some monkeypaw shit i'll sidestep and say skull motorcycle guy probably got the best ending since he ate a guy and otherwise suffered no negative repercussions from calypso's bullshit

you're a fan of either garbage plates or salt potatoes, and you're a brother of mine as someone familiar with the northern rust belt and obsessed with TMB's setting and tone for 20 years now. it's funny since midtown is ostensibly more of a midwest thing, detroit and all that or maybe like. the northern mountains for snowy ridge, but they made it feel so absolutely rusted out and shitty you can't help but try to recognize stuff

>>730683954
>deserved to win the most
black or minion, probably, since it's the whole mental depiction story thing that the devs just threw together but is still cool. same for the new bios for >>730686736 that were thrown together for the Head-On extras but are all bitchin'
>dollface is going crazy from the mask compressing her skull
>raven becomes a vigilante protecting the weak
>no-face somehow has a kid and just wants a face that won't make her cry
>>
What was the counterplay here?
>>
>>730687437
I thought I recognized this game but I was actually thinking of Fumes. Boy they seem similar at a glance albeit with one being 'retro' graphics.
>>
>>730686736
I always get the Lost and Harbor City stuff confused. And there was also gonna be a specific story mode with Sweet Tooth on foot? It all sounds interesting but I also feel like open world is antithetical to Twisted Metal, especially Black and its style of giving you a loading screen and just throwing you into a big, dreary and mostly silent map (with a biblical verse in the beta versions). There's no explanation for enemies that keep coming back each level and it doesn't need one, but open world would completely toss up how levels and respawns and such work.

That said, City of the Damned is an absolutely bitchin' level name and concept from what they made. I want to know MORE.
>>
>>730684309
>the ai just gangs up on you
That's par for the course in Twisted Metal. 3 and 4 are crap, but 989 went out of their to program them not attacking the human player as often. Rather, they attack each other from time to time. Yet for whatever reason, Singletrac/Incognito refused to take notes and do the same.

>replay a few Twisted Metal games a while back
>get really into "why the fuck is car combat dead"
>start writing up a whole ass design doc about what makes Black the best and what makes it annoying as hell, plus a dozen or so vehicles and drivers that might fit into a tournament
>realize I'm being autistic and acting like a 12 year old mashing his favorite things together and just changing the names around
>lose all motivation
IT CAN'T BE THAT FUCKING HARD
>>
>>730688926
i enjoyed it WAY more than i thought in spite of its issues. samoa joe + will arnett as sweet tooth was kino.
i still don't understand why they insist on shoehorning feminist bullshit into EVERYTHING even when its counterproductive to do so. you figure twisted metal - guns, cars, blood, explosions. very clear target audience
>yeah, lets try and market this to women as well!
its just mind boggling, i know the producers and writers don't care and just use IPs as pets, but still.

>>realize I'm being autistic and acting like a 12 year old mashing his favorite things together and just changing the names around
The trick is to realize his and then keep going
>>
>>730690443
i don't know shit about wrestling and saw a video/promo for samoa joe and it makes me wonder why they even had to overdub him with a totally different person because his actual voice could 100% pull off a sweet tooth. TMB's ST is fucking goofy despite the menace and how straight it plays it, it isn't some evil low-pitched growl, you can hear his voice crack in the end cutscene ("it took me all of ten seconds to decide" bit)

>>730690702
yeah i guess. i know, the main thing is you have to be honest and admit you like what you like and not do any weird irony-poisoning shit, but i have so many questions about intentional or accidental design things that i'll never get an answer to nor would probably want one since most of incog inc has probably disappeared except jaffe who's gone off the deep end
