Have you ever backed a Video Game on Kickstarter and it just never came out 5 years after it launched?
>>730684492
I'm waiting for Armed Fantasia to come out. They haven't posted an update since August. They're apparently a lawsuit or something?
>>730684689
>>730684492>Have you ever backed a Video Game on KickstarterNope
>Back game on kickstarter>game takes years to come out>finally does>no longer interested in premise, have moved on to other gamesHappened to me twice. So weird.
>>730684492>Kickstarter pay piggies bawling their eyes out when they get ignoredThey get what they fucking deserve, imagine not having red flags the moment they miss fulfilling the very first milestone regardless of whatever shitty excuse they've got prepared.
No, I've only backed>Kingmaker>WotR>Spirit Hunter 2>Spirit Hunter 3>My Time at Evershineand I've been pleased every single time, and I'm sure Evershine will go well since the leap in quality from Portia to Sandrock was big.
this is why you don't fund kickscammers
>>730684492I only backed Divinity Original Sin and I got my two codes just fine and the game came out (even if it was delayed) and was good.
The one I backed that went on the longest is Heart Forth, Alicia. Over 10 years past the estimated release date and counting. I don't really mind it, he even streamed himself working on the game every week, so it's not like I can say he wasn't even trying. All the others came out and I really liked the games too, like Bloodstained, Hyper Light Drifter and Shovel Knight.
>bought into Star Citizen in 2014
>>730684492Yeah once, I backed Ghost Song and after a bunch of years just had to accept that I had gotten got. Then one day it actually came out.
>dev gets psychologically abused then fucking dies from cancer
I'll support you when you release your game :)
>>730686778same and i only cared about squadron 42
>>730684492I kikestarted 2 games.1 never game out.The other one was Planetary Annihilation.I quickly learned to not fucking do this and stop being retarded.
whatever happened with the woman that kept talking with the sun
I backed Scam Citizen for $30 on, like, Day 2 of their campaign. Not a dollar more, and I still regret it.I also backed some game called Maia, which I wish never came out, because the final product was horseshit. The only other Kickstarter that I backed and never got anything out of was some tabletop mini Kickstarter which, funny enough, emailed me a couple of months ago to offer me a refund after a decade of silence.
>>730686975Remember when Squadron 42 was stated to release Chapter 1 by 2016, then the deadline passed and they never talked about it again
>>730686718I don't mind indie devs taking 10 years but I'm sure as hell not paying them for it.
>>730684492>Have you ever backed a Video Game on Kickstarterno I have self respect
>>730684492>Have you ever backed a Video Game on KickstarterStrafe. It remains the most mid game I've ever played.
The only game I ever backed was Drift Stage. It never came out.
Hollow Knight backers know.>announce Hornet campaign as DLC>actually we changed our minds, whole new game>pussyfoot for several years then just casually release it
>>730684492I backed Skullgirls and it ended up preventing me from being able to refund it during that big mess because it was obtained via a code
You ever see a kickstarter game where you can immediately tell it's a halfbaked idea from someone who doesn't have a grasp on game design?
>>730684492I did back one that never happened, but it was a couple of bucks and the guy warned that it might never get much more beyond where it was at unless the kickstarter really took off so it was no surprise that it didn't.
>>730684492fnf fans are autistic retards and the second they see a glimpse of official content they immediately crank out a full bootleg week of it. I fully understand why they're dead silent about it.
Everything I've backed has come out, but then again I've only backed like three things.I almost backed Armed Fantasia and Pennyblood, but figured they were sure to release and didn't bother backing. Now I'm pretty sure they're both dead in the water, so dodged that bullet.
What annoys me about crowdfunds short of ones that are just scams are the ones that do happen but happen at the pace and decision of the owners, including community interaction.Whenever they go to ground and updates grind to a trickle it always feels like the backers are just supposed to take that in stride and "let them cook".Motherfucker you took my money because I had faith you were going to make something with it. I understand I may not get anything from it but I DO think I'm entitled as a backer to at least get answers when I ask about it. Even some reassurances every couple of months that stuff is happening would be enough but months and months passing by without any evidence they're even LISTENING is fucking aggravating because then what am I supposed to think but believe it's actually a scam?I just think it feels disrespectful to take peoples' money not necessarily to deliver but simply to let them know it was put to something. That way if it falls apart at least it's evident as to why (because their feet were held to the fire and people understand what led to its downfall instead of just vanishing and never communicating that it even happened).
>>730684492no, I don't back vaporware
https://www.polygon.com/2015/9/16/9337745/atlus-to-publish-kickstarter-funded-rpg-cryamore-in-2016/Still waiting.
>>730684492I backed up Starbound. Never fell for that mistake ever again.
The only things I've ever backed were Wakfu and Wonderful 101. Both delivered, but I definitely got baited into W101 because I really couldn't bother to finish it despite liking most other Platinum games. At least Wakfu basically helped fund future parts of the series, but I could give less of a shit about the actual games.
>Backed Starbound>Got shit on by having the game that was actually enjoyable be turned into a generic story game with halfassed features and no real replayability outside of modders desperately trying to keep it alive.>Backed Re:Legend>Got shit on by getting a really lackluster and incomplete game that was straight up abandoned by the devs right after it came out of EA, following month of dead silence and a broken beta>Backed PalworldSo far, I got way more than I was promised and already feel fulfilled with a game that's literally incomplete and currently wasting Nintendo's time with a silly lawsuit>Backed Hytale>Nothing until tomorrow aside from the dev literally abandoning his family to make sure this game launchedPalworld was an accidental success, and Hytale looks like it might actually do something. Starbound and Re:Legend though? I will forever smear the FUCK out of those shitass companies for being absolutely fucking garbage that essentially stole my and countless others' money. Never forget that Chucklefish killed a puppy by leaving its bed next to a bunch of exposed and VERY chewable wires and absolutely refused to ever mention the pup again.
I backed Shantae HGH, Cryamore, and NightcryShantae was fine, and I even got a free copy of Ultimate Edition when that came out. Cryamore is vaporware, and the less said about Nightcry, the better.
>>730684492Shenmue 3I only ever played 2 and never completed it, my own fault for getting caught up in the hype, I quit it after maybe 2-3 hours and just sold it on ebay to get some money back, what a waste of time and money
>>730684492Everything I've backed so far has either come out, has produced multiple recent demos and is still updating regularly, is done by a company that already has a proven track record, or shows clear progression despite monthly updates. Scammy projects seem to only happen if they don't provide negatives in their description or write like "The only downside is we don't get our money."
I've only backed The Big Catch and Sauna 2000. I dunno if the latter is ever really coming out.
>>730684689>The game is still being updated on newgroundsthat means there's progress and content being made. they could release a steam version now in early access with constant updates and get torn to shreds or they could release a full version when it's finished.
Not a video game, but I backed the DC United board game and it's looking like the company is going to go bust before it's released.
Not a game but I backed that Calamity Jane kickstarter because I wanted the series on DVD.They messed up and gave me both DVD and Blueray though, so it wasn't so bad.
