I grew up in the 90s and never saw anybody bring up Alpha. Or even EX. or 3. Maybe I just never paid attention, but I didn't even know they existed until I saw ads for the ports of them in magazines and in 3's case, saw it in my local movie theater lobby arcade.

I think people barely touched alpha/EX arcades. Most people I see are playing VS games at the time.
