You know remember Nvidia Physx.

You now redeem the ESL

this would imply him having made a grammatical error which he didn't, Ranjeet, you do NOT fit in

How is the 5000 series support now? I k lnow it's only a limited selection of games, but does the PhysX run well in the ones that are supported?
>>
>>730691625
I never forgot.
>Ryzen 9950x3D
>RTX 5090 with the Blackwell 32 bit PhysX performance restoration drivers
It's gaming time.

I specifically remember playing Borderlands 2 on an R9 290X and being mad that poo water didn't leak out of toilets as I looted them.

your so wrong
>>

Played Mirror Edge recently with Physx it is till crazy how ahead of its time it was.
>>
>>730692092
Newer GPUs don't support PhysX so that gets offloaded to the CPU.

Better than that, I remember when discrete physics cards were being sold. Well actually I think there was only ever one
>>
>>730691625
I remember how it killed the performance because the way it worked it split the GPU on 2 virtual cards
>>
>>730692828
They supposedly just reenabled that but I don't know if it's done on the hardware or not. Especially since I've got a 4000 series so it can do it anyway
>>
>>730693825
Never had that problem with my 980ti
>>
>>730692828
Wrong they patched it. 50 series works with PhysX again as of last month's driver update.

Dude, physx was already dead when 980 was released, try to run those games on 9800gt-gtx680

Wait, really. I heard people said it was a dedicated hardware chip doing all the work, and it was removed in 50xx. So it was just nvidia being retarded?
>>
I assume you dont really need physx anymore to do the impressive physics things it used to do.
devs can just do regular physics on the CPU now instead of some proprietary thing.

check out teardown, it's all CPU.

They "deprecated" 32 bit CUDA which had the knock on effect of breaking PhysX (relies on CUDA) in older 32 bit games. This makes up the majority of classic PhysX games you'd actually care about playing. I don't know how they're doing it, or if there's any overhead vs say a 40 series card with "native" 32 bit PhysX. All I know is it works great on my 5090.
>>
>>730694620
Nope, lies, physx was accelerate with cuda cores fp32 on gtx/rtx cards, that's why cutting physx on 50xx was bullshit from Nvidia.
>>
>>730691713
You forgot the dot at the end, ESL.
>>
>>730692183
he said it's a typo retard
