This gave it a much cleaner presentation. Nioh 2 you have to know a lot more about sengoku to know what is happening, what everyone's been doing, the game doesn't hold your hand to explain it all because they made it for Japanese kids who probably paid attention in school. The payoff at the end of the game and the DLCs was fantastic though, really wrapped up the first two games nicely. We'll see how well they add onto it with 3 but I'm optimistic.

At least with Living Weapon it's tied to your Guardian Spirit so you can lean into a specific element for your build. Yokai Shift is always the same. Dropping Living Weapon turned Guardian Spirit's into stat sticks now

Hitting with yokai abilities to try and create as much amrita orbs around to suck in and charge up strong attack as well as refresh your yokai abilities and then looping that felt satisfying to me. Reminiscent of Ninja Gaiden UTs, even. Also, I liked that if you could grapple an enemy, instead of doing a regular grapple, you could do the YS input to do the yokai grapple and shift at the same time. I hope these parts are implemented to 3's LW.

Even for simply playing through the game Living Weapon felt a lot more dynamic as being tied to your guardian spirit you had the passives, element, and special. Living artifact is going to be the best out of all of them. It looks sick, it gives each weapon type a new move-set, you can use martial arts during it, and it stays active when you switch modes.

Is it weird I have more fun learning how to game the fuck out of bosses in Nioh rather than mastering their moveset like in other games? I can't even bring myself to cheese a boss in most games but there's something very satisfying about it in Nioh
