VII is releasing next month. It's the 40th anniversary of the franchise. XII is still a ways a way. The franchise could use a nice 3D adventure to tide us over until XII. I think VIII is due for a remake/remaster announcement soon. I hope they keep the 3DS additional party members.Hardmode: do it without complaining that 9 has never had a remake/remaster/rerelease.
Dragon Quest have been being perpetually remade since the Super Famicom. Frustration with modern remasters/remakes really shouldn't be applied to Dragon Quest. The franchise is always remaking previously released games.

Tension (1.7x > 3x > 5x > 7.5x) was too many turns of doing nothing, the HD-2D Trilogy replacing it by Egg On (2x) every turn was a better compromise for MP management.Although a change like>IX's Coup-de-grace / XI's Pep Powers / VIIR's Let Loose!>I & II HD-2D's Souped-Up Skillswould also be nice.VIIR's more casualized with shared battle inventory, auto revive after combat, and level up fill up, I expect similar changes.

What pisses me off the most is that VIII wasn't even that old a decade ago, but SQueenix refused to make a port for the single most popular Dragon Quest game internationally.Oh, but FF titles get ported to damn near everything
