They will still be playable in remakes and revelations style spinoff games that cover events in the past (for example theres a whole bunch of missions leon went on between 2013 and 2026 that could be turned into games, or operation javier could be a game too etc).My theory is that the big revolver in all the promo art for RE9 represents the transition of power from old gen to new gen, Grace starts out powerless and Leon starts out all-powerful, he gives the revolver to Grace maybe 1/3 of the way into the game and we watch Grace's power and capabilities grow in the style of a classic RE game's pacing while Leon probably gets weaker and more vulnerable over the course of the game especially as his infection spreads. But I dont think he'll die, just retire and maybe get a happy ending with ada.but for the record i think leon looks great in re9, he aged up in a really fucking kino way, i like how sickly and AIDS ridden he looks. RE8 Chris aged in a healthier way but Leon looks cooler (im not even a leonfag btw hes one of my least fav among the main cast)

Grace's sections look promising so far considering the attention to detail they put in to make her HUD resemble RE2R more than Leon (health represented by heartrate appearing on screen VS Leon's health bar for example)i just hope the pacing of RE9 is ok because I feel like theres potential for the swapping between Grace and Leon sections to ruin the flow of the gameplay a little and reduce the sense of "progression" that IMO is super important for resident evil games. Seeing your inventory build up and your character get more powerful over time is really satisfying so it could be jarring to switch between two completely different characters. I love Code Veronica but the break in pacing when you switch from Claire to Chris is really crap and RE9 could have that problem even worse since Grace and Leon probably wont share item boxes. It was also a big problem in Revelations 1 for me. The only game I didn't mind it in was Revelations 2.
