I remember reading some old essay about Evagelion and about moe culture in general. One of the points I remember from it is how all the tropes and quirks anime girls have that makes them "moe" are loosely based on how women used to act before feminism. It is to be noted that feminism in Japan peaked during its bubble era, which also coincedences with the peak of anime industry and the rise of otaku culture. In a way "moe" acted as some kind of time capsule that preserved how women were like without the influence of feminism that makes them antagonize men. Today it's much harder to grasp since anime gets its inspirations from itself, but in the beginning the anime girls took inspirations from real women. In real life, it doesn't take much effort for women to be appealing for men if they're not poisoned with cognitohazards like feminism.
