Just wait for Valve to give out the prices themselves. Surely you can wait a little instead of relying on the retarded game of Twitter """leaker""" telephone?

Lol, valve employee gave the palantire stare to LinuxRacemixingTips when he assumed it would cost $499, forget about anything lower than $700(before the ram shortage), Czechs are way closer to reality

Bad news. Looks like the last leak is wrong. Looks like the steam machine will be replacing knives in the next cs2 case, that's only $2.50 plus tax

Valve doesn't have the capability to supply the demand and scalpers will hoard this fucking thing as they did with the Ps5.
Then add tax, shipping and handling.
Most of these will be used as decoration, find in the backgrounds of many youtubers.
>>
>>730707067
that czech website has the steam deck marked up to $950. if they're not just pulling a price out of their ass then the price they have is way marked up

Not sure if you are making fun of someone but that is genuinely what I was about to do.
My Pc is already great, but I really want that controller.
Possibly $300 accounting scalpers.

>>730706967
I actually expect the price to be similar to that
However it should be noted that Valve does not sell via retailers besides Komodo.
So that retailer just shoved some random price in the backend.

Yet, certainly made for some "news".

Yeah, a bit less I guess. Not much though.
But, we can just wait and see.

>>
>>730708770
Yeah, it's pretty nice.
I loved it with the original steam controller, and it's nice that there's another controller with it.
It was fucking great in ty the tasmanian tiger.
If I was moderately less lazy I could even set it up to use a controller as a steering wheel.
>>
>>730708607
>>Gyro
Perfect for Wii emulation
>>
>>730708909
I mean it's more, that for whatever arbitrary reason the steam frame can know where the controller is and use this information for a variety of applications.
Thinking as an engineer the first thing it could be used for is so you can see where your Steam Controller is IRL while you're wearing your headset.
>>
>>730709015
..Oh.
As in it actually tracks the controller's physical position.
That just makes a lot of sense actually. You oftentimes can see your VR stick controllers in-game as hands/floating controllers/etc., so being able to "see" your controller would be a nice touch.
>>
>>730709158
It also works as a regular controller too, but that goes without saying.

It was never in danger in the first place meanwhile, you should expect another price increase for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S putting their prices around or above even the Steam Machine. Next gen prices should be fun. I can't wait to look at the Steam Deck 2.0's price vs the PS handheld's and first-party in-house Xbox handheld's (yes, it's still in the works) prices.

Different markets. Obsolete if you want to play next-gen AAA, but not obsolete in general. You would be able to play indies, older games, or new games with lower requirements.

>This thing will be completely obsolete in a couple of years when the next consoles come out.
We're going backward not forward. PlayStation and Xbox aren't selling enough to justify making their platforms the consoles/pcs to develop for. Nintendo and Steam won. Switch 2 will be weaker than the PS handheld and PS6, the Steam Machine will be weaker than the next Xbox, the Steam Deck 2 will be weaker than the first party Xbox handheld, but both will win and longer gaming sections and affordable costs while Sony's and Microsoft's hardware will be expensive as shit and less efficient.
>>
>>730710120
People said (myself included) that the Deck looked uncomfortable and I found that to not be the case, quite the opposite actually. I'm willing to bet the new controller will feel nice.
>>
>>730706967

it's laptop ram, laptops come with that much ram and don't have unoccupied slots to just add more of the same capacity
it's only valuable if they're larger

I want it to be more expensive because I know it's going to sell out in minutes if it's cheap so it makes it more likely for me to get one if it's expensive and I have money to burn. Does that make me a bad person?
>>
>>730708607
A thing about the back buttons that's interesting to me is the fact that the steam controller's gonna work through steam input, meaning you can set the back buttons to be practically whatever you want rather than having to bind them to another button already on the controller as on practically every other controller with back buttons, idk, I'm just excited about that
>>
>>730710790
It uses different architecture and ends up being more efficient.
>>

Trackpads give you 75% of the cursor precision and speed of a mouse which makes them invaluable for menu navigation among other things. As opposed to just sticks which have loke 1/4th the effective accuracy and speed.

Yes that's precisely why it has good ergos. The steam deck is a fat ugly slab, but by far the most comfortable handheld to use.
