Is it true that old Sega consoles such as the Master System and Dreamcast are still very popular in Brazil? I've heard that many times, although I'm not sure it would be the case anymore, and it's such a bizarre idea to me.
>>730710528I am brazilian and no. Maybe you are thinking of the Playstation 2 that was still very popular for years and even into this decade here because it was so cheap and easy to pirate games, but even that lost popularity an while ago. Now you have normalfags working a year to buy a ps5 on a minimum wage job. A playstation 5 here is for poorfags what an Iphone or those expensive shoes are for the american ghetto niggers.
>>730710693Seconding this. The amount of favela niggers who can barely afford food and are avoiding paying child support to buy a PS5 is quite high.
>>730710528CARALHOOOOOOO!!!!! FALLENN!!!!!!
>>730710528No
Ranking the retro console market interest/nostalgia here in monkeyzil:PS2 > PS1 > N64 > GENESIS AND SNES (tied) > DREAMCAST
>>730710998Favela niggers actually purchase cheap RX 580 + Intel Xeon/i5 to play the latest games
>>730710693What's their job? How much do they earn? How much is a PS5 brand new? Is there a stigma if they buy used? Would a Comando Vermelho gangster be able to afford one relatively quickly? There's a lot of money in the drug trade
>>730710528my cousin owns a couple of sega consoles, but for what i know snes and ps are the most popular retro consoles
>>730710528The Master System in particular was very popular in the 80s, some games were even localized with Brazilian characters. I still have my dad's collection. I also remember some of the older kids had Mega Drives, but even that was not as common as the SNES. By the time I started playing games in ~1999-2000, the PS1 had already completely taken over due to ease of piracy. There were some other consoles around but they were mostly a novelty, PC and PS1 combined probably had close to 99% of the market share. >>730710693The PS2, much like the PS1, didn't take off in popularity in Brazil until quite a few years after release because it was so expensive. I got mine in Xmas 2003 and it cost a little under 1000USD at the time(minimum wage was 120USD/month)
>>730712924>What's their job? How much do they earn?Minimum monthly wage is BRL 1.620 or around 300USD. In big metropolitan areas the median wage would probably be somewhere between 3 and 4x that amount. >How much is a PS5 brand new? The Gran Turismo + Astro Bot bundle was around 500USD on Black Friday. Right now that same bundle listed around $700. >Is there a stigma if they buy used? No, but the used hardware market in Brazil is very small, so you're not often gonna see them listed that much cheaper than a brand new unit. >Would a Comando Vermelho gangster be able to afford one relatively quickly? There's a lot of money in the drug tradeMost faction footsoldiers make around minimum wage
>>730710528Not really
