I like MM3 but there's a lot of small stuff that drags it down. IIRC whenever you change directions there's a few frames of latency before it actually registers, which makes moment-to-moment gameplay feel off. There's also noticeably more slowdown than the other NES games.

Needle Man's Doc stage got that awful platforming section with the flying platforms and those damn bees. It’s where the slowdown starts cooking. Honestly, MM3 had the potential to be the GOAT, but those dragged-out mid-boss fights with busted hitboxes kneecap the momentum hard.
