For me it's 1.3.2 , it added trading with villagers, new enchanting and desert/jungle temples.
>>
Whenever wood block variations were first added. You had to get really creative if you didn't want to rehash your walls with just cobble or wood. That being said, I still feel nostalgic for those types of buildings too.
>>
>>730715096
im annoyed that we don't have big generated pyramids with mummies and a pharaoh to fight like the woodland mansions

>buh mods
shut up nigga
>>
>>730715096
for me, it's beta 1.7
>>730715415
pretty sure that was added in 1.3 as well?
>>
for me it was the Indev builds

Minecraft - Bedrock Edition [FitGirl Repack]

think they had been around but all wood was just called "wood" and "wood planks". i think that's when they finally gave them different names
>>

I looked it up
wooden plank variations were first added in release 1.2.4 although only spruce, birch, and jungle planks were available at the time (no other wood types existed yet)

Been playing vintage story lately and it's made me realise how badly Mojang dropped the ball.
So many updates with fucking useless shit, who the fuck cares about copper in Minecraft? Useless.
Vintage story? It's crucial.
Food in minceaft? Annoying, requires minimal planning.
Vintage story? Integral to the experience, winter needs to be planned for.
I could go on, for every superfluous mob or item in MC.
>>
>>730716476
I saw a couple videos of that, at first thought it was just a Minecraft shader or resource pack. gonna try it out tomorrow
>>
>>730716558
It's a very different experience.
The minecraft bones are there, but it feels like an alternate reality where someone competent took over and didn't market it for 9 year olds.
>>
>>730716606
Took over and made the combat even worse, impressively.
Also current wood mechanics can't compare to minecrafts redstone, let alone its more bespoke industrial mods.
Also how is minecraft farming 'annoying' when vs farming is a seed collector for the first year of gameplay and a 2 year+ process for simple farm animals?
Yeah it's cool I can make something with goat milk but not being able to transport wild animals is flat out retarded. I have rope to hog tie them.
Vs doesn't have trapping either outside of digging a hole and hoping things will fall in.
If you are going to market as the autistic version of minecraft you need some basics before hyperfixating on adding dozens of decorative ferns and butterflies.
>>
>>730717139
>Redstone autist
Stopped reading there. Redstone is great, sure, but what's the point?
Minecraft fundamentally struggles with this issue, it has so many completely superfluous systems.
Why does a kids game about killing a dragon need a redstone programming system? It doesn't. Sure, you can do cool things with it, but...why? It's not a core part of the game, the game in no way encourages or requires you to use it.
Same with copper, or "archaeology" or the various other shit that got added over the years. Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.
>Made combat worse
wew lad, throwing spears to hunt is far superior to spam clicking with a diamond sword.
>>
>>730717397
Hunting is not combat.
Interesting you mention the method you get in the first 5 minutes to nab some hides and not something you'll actually be using to clear dungeons like the blackguard iron sword or steel falx.
>what is the point of side content in a game about killing a dragon?
You cannot be serious with this.
>>
10-11 years ago alpha 1.2.6 still had a pretty cool community
>>
>>730717856
>Side content
>Completely unrelated programming tool that has no actual definable use in the game other than making shit that makes you go "huh cool".

I remember I first played minecraft when it had fucking COGS? It feels like I dreamt this up because I can't find any info on this, but I clearly remember my friend and I launching a server and him showing off these cogs to me and I couldn't understand what you'd do with fucking cogs in minecraft.
So, around that era. When bows didn't have any drawback so you could just spam it like a machinegun. Oh and I remember an update where Notch had just added the very first paintings into the game and me and my mate used bows to shoot at those. Good fucking times.

If you need more just install create.

it might be because i didn't the next update (1.8) and stopped playing at the time though

>>730725079
beta 1.8 pissed a lot of people off. obviously hunger, too much ocean, and passive mobs didnt respawn once you killed them anymore.
>>
>>730725150
>too much ocean
>passive mobs don't respawn
Literally what are you talking about
>>
It's been too long so I don't remember which version but it was back when feedthebeast really took off and mincraft got some of its biggest tech mods
>>
i felt like enchantments both ruined and improved the game
something to work for was both a positive and a negative, because it's fucking boring & at a certain point of getting used to those perks they will be deemed a requirement. rolling off your levels when you're busy and don't want to is just a chore.
i honestly did not care or mind about the mining rate of diamond before that.

1.12.2. Besides the mods, they fixed the boats and that was plenty for me.
>>
>>730715096
Version 1.0. Was the version I first started playing on, and I basically just followed PaulSoaresJr's Survive and Thrive series to a T for the most part of my survival. Never got to beat the game on that version, and I think about going back to 1.0 just for nostalgia and to beat it.

>Redstone is great, sure, but what's the point?
Redstone is endgame minecraft.

Minecraft's issue is that the "start to finish" progression was completed extremely early on in the game's development, and new things that are added can't be reasonably squeezed INTO that progression system, so they stand alone as unrelated things. The best thing for Minecraft would be a progression overhaul where the process required to face the Ender Dragon is just extended enormously and loops in a whole lot more shit, so that the journey to do that becomes a lot more complicated.

I said in another thread that if it were up to me, I'd kill off strongholds entirely and make the Ancient City portal be the gateway to the End, and you'd have to use redstone to connect Eye of Ender generators to the portal to activate it. I stand by that. But in a perfect world, you'd have to do a lot more to reach that point than just
>build nether portal
>find fortress
>kill blazes
and have killed an Enderman at some point.

You'd be required to engage with enchanting and brewing somehow, and ideally to locate the Ancient City you'd need something only accessible from a Woodland Mansion and Ocean Monument.

Any anon has a server and want to play with me? Trying to re-ignite my passion for gaming and going to start with a gem.
My old account cannot be recovered since Microsoft deleted Mojang database apparently so I have to be accepted as a pirate. Won't pay again for it out of principle.

Started on the creative Minecraft servers online where you didn't need to buy the game, that was in Alpha days. Really bought the game a few days pre Beta. Pre Beta 1.8 was awesome. Beta 1.8 was neat to explore, though. Played Minecraft again 3 years ago for 3 months, idk the version, but it was too much for me to handle. Just cut down all birch trees in sight and turned them into coal in a crimatorium broght on by train to emulate the birch holocaust. Ugly pieces of shit, they should all BURN. So pre Beta 1.2 was also good. It still had this eerie feeling and wonderment of exploration.
>>
>>730715096
late in beta, after the nether but before minecart boosters were patched out

>>730719783
Oh, god. I'm old.
