What can Ubisoft even do at this point? finally finish Beyond Good and Evil 2?

In what universe could Ubisoft attempt a successful comeback? They're known for churning out yearly slop, it's so over.
>>
You know, it's not that I like ubisoft but Sony's is also at an all time low.

There is a possibility of a EU bailout because Ubishit is classified as a tech company.

Why would we buy a sinking ship? Also most of our investment in jap companies isn't good if we don't force them to remove woke feminist shit, negros and LGBT trash. Fanservice should increase and sexy young girls sell. FF7R should've had sexier Tifa not censored one also Capcom games look too gay need to fix Capcom and Square Enix and remove censorship. I'm playign FFXVI and all I see is men ass while they're scared to show females. Good games that sold well like Nier have no new titles but Forspoken get funded. Dragon Quest is censored etc they need to be fixed for money making not ideology selling.

Maybe 10 years ago it'd work, but nowadays nobody cares.
Ancel's gone, Soliani's gone, nobody in Ubisoft cares about it (outside maybe some random small team of devs who'd instantly get dissolved once nu-Rayman doesn't sell 7m copies). They talk about remake and shit but at this point they have much bigger issues on hands than pleasing remaining 17 Rayman fans with a remake, remaster or a new game.
You'll get another Rabbids game and you'll like it.

2. Canada is also willing to sell out everything for the sake of woke.

>>
>>730721269

A number of reasons. Ancel taking a step back. Ubisoft Montreal being turned into the AC/Far Cry studio. Cutting Red Storm funding and employees to less than 200. Because they helped Ubisoft Paris with Ghost Recon Future Soldier and it flopped. Constant shovelware so they wouldn't get bought out by mergers for majority of the 2010s.

>>730718660

As someone who held Ubisoft open-world Games very dearly (my grandmother bought many from the local store for 20€ whenever I visited her), this is not even about repetition anymore. All of their major Open-world franchises have been worse than their previous installments in every aspect.
If they had maintained their (objectively) mediocre standards, they'd still make bank, but they replaced their old teams with retarded women and jeets who cannot even properly maintain the old scripts carried over from the decade-old predecessor games without making them worse. I do not even exaggerate when I say they downgraded the already weak AI in many franchises (Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed and Far Cry especially).

I'm not saying that appealing protagonists aren't vital, but Star Wars Outlaws would have had terrible effeminate writing with an aversion towards accountability for the protagonist even without the ugly lead, it would have been glitchy even if they'd gotten a great writer, and it would have looked boring even with the glitches fixed. All of these problems are interlinked. It speaks to a team that isn't really invested in delivering an amazing game for gamers. It's a corporate product with (((the message))). I'll bet that there are people in leadership who've said things like-
>I never thought that I'd be working in videogames.
-and who can't answer basic questions about videogames and think that Anakin blew up the Death Star.

The one nice thing that I'll say about Star Wars Outlaws is that some of the environments are beautiful, but not all of them and they're wasted on the rest of the game.
>>
>>730722414
it still would have sold at least twice as much if it weren't blatantly woke

>>730722168

>>
>>730722547
I think that more people would have gotten to the step where they look at the gameplay if the protagonist were hot, but I think that they would have found it boring.

They probably did lose a million sales from that, though.

/biz/fag here

>Central bank kept interest rates at 0% to boost the american economy after the crash of 2008-2012.
>this lead to half a decade of mass speculation and consumerism that made industries grow at unsustainable rates(including the videogame industry)
>In the short term new companies were created, jobs were created, stocks went up,etc...
>The problem is, it also made inflation go up.
>Inflation hurts the poor and middle class so bad for politics.
>fed decides to increase interest rates to tame inflation
>Everything is so leverage up that even the slight increase in interest rates poped the bubbles they've being inflating since 2012.

This happened circa 2018 and the central bank walk back and reduced the interest rates. Then Covid happened and trump used infinite money printing to try to bailout the american economy from a recession which led to even worse inflation during the early years of the biden administration which lead to the fed increasing the interest rates again but this time they kept it up for years.

This caused the recession that started around 2022. Mass layoffs everywhere(netflix,warner,microsoft,etc...).

As for the videogame industry specifically. Many studios were created during that 2012-2018 period of low interest rates. Remembers the indie boom of the early PS4 era? that wasn't coincidental.

Many of this studios don't have profitable games that people actually want to pay big bucks for it and survived of mass consumption during summer sales or deal like Gamepass. A lot of big corporation like ubisoft survived on cheap debt instead of having profits.

Now that interest rates are up people are more frugal and not spenting as much on games. This hurts the indies because typically speaking, your priority is to buy GTA6 not some no name indie game at summer sale so you will save money for Rockstar.

In the case of Big corps they can't get cheap debt anymore and have to downscale(aka mass layoffs).

Its funny, its literally because of ubisoft that every other big dev started to open studios in montreal. Then server farms started opening(because of cheapest power in north america) then programing shit like this massive boost of tech workers in the 00's all because of ubisoft. They basically set off this massive bomb that created a whole industry in the city by the mid 10's culture marxism and non-quebecois workers started flooding in and poof shit went from amazing work force to FIRE EVERYONE WITH TALENT VISA ABUSE HIRE THE WORST OF THE WORST at least there is barely any jeets here. They tried dumping 300k during covid 90% left within 2 years because of racism and pure hatred towards brown people. Quebec will not became france no matter how many arabs/niggers/jeets the federal government dumps here.

>>730724207
Inflation is caused by useless spending, not low interest. Think of society's wealth as a bar and each unit of currency as a little rectangular unit on that bar. If spending is outpacing actual productivity, the bar gets smaller, and each unit is worth less. If you increase the number of units (print money), each unit is also worth less, because the bar hasn't grown and each unit now represents a smaller portion of the bar. That's inflation. The low interest might be a mechanism for encouraging reckless spending, but I think that the more important mechanism to focus on is the one that allows the reckless (let's be nice for now and use that word) lending, which is high taxation, since it ultimately gets laundered to the financial institutions. Basically, the money laundering scheme that is our out-of-control pork is to blame for most of our problems. There's some demystification.
Indies are doing great. Big indie hits are coming out fairly regularly. And I'd say why buy $70 AAA slop when you can get 300+ hours of distilled gameplay for $30? There's just more of them than ever, so it's difficult for your pixel art platformer about your depression from your breakup to stand out than it was fifteen years ago. Which games are succeeding and failing doesn't have a lot to do with the wider economy; entertainment historically thrives during economic downturns, and it's thriving right now. Just not for the people that game journos like, which is why they try to present it as a general downturn rather than an isolated self-inflicted collapse.

Actually they might as they "seem" to have understand that it's better for them to separate their studios as more or less independent creative structure than to use their worldwide workforce around the clock to push the same uninspired slopes every year.

But, well, Ubi have to ubi somehow so I'm not that confident about their restructuring.

They found a game formula that worked. Open world, lots of side content, all that shit. Then they just kept making the same game over and over and over and over again, people got sick and tired of it but Ubisoft no longer knows how to make anything else.
There's also an element of arrogance and too big to fail that means they don't mind huge amounts of cash they don't have on failed projects.
>>
>>730728621
They kind of know this but sadly those titles don't bring the bucks they need or require by shareholders by them trading on the market.

They need to let some of their slope IPs sleep a bit and let part of their studios be wild and creative again, like a deluxe AA+ publisher instead of chasing an elusive AAAA nobody want.

Passing the losses off to the taxpayers through tax laundering, using regulation to take cuts out of people's paychecks (e.g. 401ks), and using government contracts to force the rest of the economy into their ecosystem is how the hedge funds survive all of these bad investments, though. They're essentially bailed out in perpetuity by socialism.

If taxes, spending, and regulation were low, they'd be fucked. That's why all of their propaganda tries to portray true small government people as crazy hicks.
