>>
>>730723594
4K is a meme. Only like 2% of autistic redditor neckbeards game on a 4K monitor or ultrawide. 1440p is the sweet spot.

>>730723595
A lot of gaming monitors have high refresh rate. I'd even consider my current 165hz IPS monitor to be overkill on the refresh rate. If you don't play multiplayer games, then I doubt it matters as much. I play primarily single player stuff.
>>
>>730723491
Make sure to auto-hide the taskbar and get Wallpaper Engine for constant motion to avoid burn-ins.
>>
>>730723595
Overkill doesn't exist. In 10 years even the best builds of today will struggle with big games
>just don't buy modern games
Okay, boomer
>>
>>730723758
It has a proximity sensor and other burn-in prevention features. I'm on my PC everyday for several hours, maybe 6-8 hours, but I'm not doing intense stuff on 14 hours a day. I might do 5-6 hour gaming sessions, but I'm honestly not concerned about burn-in. It'll happen eventually. It happens to all OLED monitors, but it's a question of when.

If you're an autistic who spends 15 hours a day doing a lot of shit on their PC, then yes, you'll get burn-in probably as fast a year. It also doesn't help if you just leave the monitor on and never turn it off.
>>
>>730723491
You need to buy the new tandem RGB WOLED or you are going to regret that shit.
>>
Buy a 4K 144hz tv instead connect that to the PC and play with controller
>>
Anything beyond 144hz is a meme
>>
>>730723491
>no G-Sync Pulsar
outdated on arrival
>>
>>730723974
Yeah, I fucking know about the Tandem OLED models coming soon, guess I should just wait, huh? I have no patience. There isn't a concrete release date, but ASUS is saying Q1-Q2, so possibly as soon as late Spring, but it could be in the Summer.

Is Tandem OLED significantly that much better? I heard they'll be $700 MSRP, so that's pretty good for the upgrade from a QD-OLED, I guess?

>>730724072
>Le no technology that just launched on very few monitors

Okay. I seriously doubt many people have G-Sync Pulsar monitors except for Youtube reviewers and autistic wealthy people.
>>
>>730724007
King shit
>>
>>730724007
I actually have a 55'' 4K QD-Mini Led TV, but my PC is in another room, and my TV is in the bedroom. It'd be awkward to connect it to the TV in my bedroom.

Also, it's still not an OLED which will look better than an LCD any day of the week.

Or the new Asus gen if you're in europe

>>730723974
Not coming till like the second half of this year AT BEST
more realistically late q4 or maybe even next year since Asus STILL hasn't released their tandem 4th gen woled outside of Europe/china.

Blind idiots who haven't been paying attention actually thought they were releasing Q1. Don't come crying to me when they are inevitably delayed, wait only if you can hold your breath for a year

>>
>>730723491
i bought the 4k 140hz rog glossy oled monitor for £650 during Christmas, wanted the samsung one but it never went on sale

it was 32" tho

wanted higher rate but it was for ps5 so i thought meh 140 was enough
>>
>>730724295
>Your meme is melting monitors kek
You say this cause there is one known case of a probably defective unit yet there are thousand of burned in OLEDs that were shipped perfectly fine
>>
>>730724295
>That's an old gen

Not really? It launched in Q4 2025, that's fairly new in my eyes. It's only been on the market for 4-5 months at best. Also I don't know if there is any concrete sourced information about ASUS Tandem OLED monitors, but I heard Q1-Q2 2026, pretty sure they're wanting a 2026 release, so unless something drastic happens then I figured it'll be here by Summer 2026 at the latest.

I also don't really want a WOLED, but that's just personal preference. I think QD-OLED has better color gamut and it's better in a darker room. The monitor you posted is cheaper, yes, but from what I can tell its only difference is the price and it being a WOLED, which I don't want. It's fine if you think I'm wrong and that WOLED is better, but I think it depends on the room you're playing in and just what you prefer.
>>
Cool, I remember gaming on a 27" back in the 90's
>>
>>730724614
Oh fair enough if you don't want a woled
>>
>>730724712
Let me guess? You're an ultrawide faggot that games on his clown screen that's curved inward and looks moronic? Or are you just gonna brag about gaming on some 100'' TV that also looks retarded?

32'' is the limit for me for PC gaming. It's retarded to game on something bigger than that, at least for a PC. If you're doing TV gaming on a console or hooking your PC up to the TV and sitting like 10-15 inches away, then yes, I can understand gaming on a larger display.
>>
>>730724427
You genuinely won't see the difference between 120hz and 280hz
1440p to 4K is a much bigger difference
>>
>>730724712
Cool, I remember fucking your mother in the 90's and then leaving her.

>>730724861
You actually need a strong enough PC that can do 4K gaming, which not many people have. My PC is a 1440p PC. It plays games comfortably at 1440p 60FPS, but it can't do 4K gaming. It just isn't nearly that strong. There is no reason to get a 4K display if the PC itself can't run the game at 4K 60FPS.
>>
>I'm gonna do it, /v/. I'm ready to overspend on my undersized screen to the next level. I'm tarding in.
>>
>>730724972

I'm not going to hook up my PC to my QD-Mini Dot LCD TV in my bedroom and lay in bed awkwardly with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I do not care that it's BIGGER. It will be cumbersome and stupid. The OLED monitor would run circles around that TV, and I've already stated my PC can't do 4K gaming, so why hook it up to a 4K display? Are you fucking stupid? Why would I use a 4K display at all in that scenario? It might be fine for watching movies and streaming, but not for gaming.
>>
>>730725214
Yeah, tv as your occasional tertiary screen makes some sense if you like to play games on controller or other content you want to play from your PC, but that's a niche case.
>>

Yes? Why, on a 27" monitor, would you want to game at a resolution for 16" laptops? Maybe if you're a child you might consider 27" to be small, but people didn't have monitors that size up until around 10 years ago or so. Those were TV sizes, most people's PC monitors were 19-22".

He's right because 1080p looks fine on 4K but does not on 1440p displays. If you need to run something at a lower resolution, ironically the 4k is better. 1440p is a weird in-between and I regret buying one.

developers are just lazy fucks but the fact that a 5090 struggles also says nvidia is shitting the bed
>>
>>730726437
Displaying 1080p on a 4K monitor uses exact integer scaling (2x). Displaying 1080p on a 1440p monitor requires non-integer scaling (1.333x). This requires interpolation, which makes it blurrier. 1440p is a meme.
>>
>>730726846
A 1080 ti already had enough power for great graphics. The 5090 is total overkill in theory but Devs are so shit now that they cannot really make better graphics anymore other than higher polycounts while requiring shittons of power.

>EEEOOO EEEOOO RETARD ALERT
4k is better, even at 27". You get equal parity with any connected 4K tv and don't have to fight with resolution glitches when going from pc to tv. This isn't even my main gaming set up of 4k tv with 4k pc. This is my left over parts build set. You don't want some retarded 1440p resolution in 2026, year of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
>>
>>730727274
>what's wrong with using a 27 inch 4k monitor for gaming?
Absolutely nothing. Sour grape foxes that couldn't wait until 4k Oled prices went down or they saved more money and COPE'd with 1440p; an in between stop gap resolution.
>>
>>730727274
It's hard to run games at ultra settings 4k. That said I'll gladly reduce particle effects and shadows a level for the bump in resolution

Only the vision that can be seen by both eyes, and our focus are is quite small. You can easily demonstrate this by looking at a bunch of text and notice how focusing on a word makes most of the text blurry and unreadable. Your brain still remember and recognizes it as some sort of text but the content is not clear. Human vision works a lot like AI where it isn't nearly as accurate as you'd think but the brain is doing work to fill in the gaps.

There's no assets that make 4K worth it. Models, textures, everything. Playing at ultra-high PPI 4K you'll still notice the verticies on a round object, the smeary textures, except now everything runs at 50% less FPS, which in turn makes the animations seem even more janky. One day an actually good game will come out with models and textures that look amazing at 160+PPI, but we're still waiting, more than 10 years after 4K come to market.
