>make a decent game>refuse to update itWhy are game developers like this? Fucking Star Citizen got more updates than this shit.
>>730730804it's really comfy and fine as it is
>>730730804Valheim players have absolutely ZERO right to complain about this..
Why does a game need to be updated forever and ever? The world has been updating forever and ever and it fucking sucks. Op is a faggot.
>>730730804At least it didn't immediately die, unlike some other games.
>>730730804It received updates for quite a while and has more than enough content. Too much, I'd say. Move on, you stupid faggot
>>730730804Didn’t it get a big combat overhaul, new monsters, and 2 new outfits last year about 7/8th month in?Deep north this year too, or so the legends say.
Nobody is ever going to see the endgame content because the grind is way too long. So why bother updating it?
>>730731112What happened to this?Played it a ton back then
>>730730804I always get burnt out right at the Plains
>>730731112Was this supposed to have updates? The game felt complete enough if a little basic
>>730730804They kept making it worse the more they updated it so honestly may as well not continue.
>>730731106This wouldn't be a totally retarded take if the game wasn't early access. But as such, it's normal to expect reasonably paced updates until it hits the full release.
>>730731348They added resource modifiers and unrestricted portals for dad gamers years ago
>what if we make our game progressively more annoying, less comfy, less immersive, more full of obnoxious hazards and mechanics stapled on that only work in one specific environment>wouldn't that be greatThis was the real "why"
>>730731562Well if it's still in early access then they didn't make the game yet. OP said the game was already made.
>>730731106Hmmm I wonder why
>>730731350No idea. Devs did one major update, then a few small updates and disappeared. Maybe they died.>>730731469>felt completeDoes it? Feels really incomplete to me. And yes, they indicated a major update was coming, and then it just didn't happen.
>>730731804>Maybe they died. They're Russian and the last update was in 2022 so it's more likely than you think
>>730730804Pretty sure the original solo dev who made most of the game up to Plains doesn't even work on it anymore
>>730730804>refuse to update itJokes on you, it would be better if it was actually like that.
>>730731889I didn't know they're Russian. RIP.
>>730732001Oh, welp. Definitely dead.
>>730731684Only Ashlands were bad, rest was good.
>>730730804I've been playing this with a bunch of friends recently. Everybody gave up at the swamps and I can't blame them.
>>730733008Mistlands was pure ass. It had literally nothing in it most of the time, and half the other time it was trying to interact with the >>>>>>jumping and elevation mechanics of the game, which remain to this day awful.
>>730733175They were 1 zone away from peak
>>730733297I agree.
>>730730804you rewarded struggling devs with loads of money who made lightning in a bottle. the drive to finish said game is gone wen your all rich and no longer need to work.
>>730733008Ashlands are less cancerous than Mistlands.
>>730730804How have you guys not figured out the EA grift yet? Most games are DONE when they hit EA, it’s just an excuse they can throw on it so they don’t have to clean up their janky shit and hope you stop login enough to notice you aren’t updating this project anymore.
>>730730804Small teams with big releases often end up bugfixing the game for like a year. I'm not surprised at all at Valheim's pace. Luckily I was already very happy with the game on release
>>730731779This is why I only ever buy Early Access games if they already feel complete. I felt like I got a complete experience out of Valhalla when it got popular way back, before they added the real mistlands and that other biome I can't remember with the fire.
>>730733517>struggling devsMost of these indie yurodevs are getting funding from their gubberment so their countries can pretend to have soft power. They don’t tell you they are because it’s part of the grift. That’s why they feel they can take the money and run after making it big: they’ve already figured out how conning suckers for money works.
At this point, I fear what's coming with the Deep North as the entire Ashlands "experience" was awful and this is coming from someone with nearly 1000 hours in Valheim playing both with others and solo. Ashlands is:- surrounded by a constant storm, so sea serpents spawn indefinitely- surrounded by jagged tiny rocks that you have to navigate in the storm while battling serpents- once you start getting closer to shore flying birds will also attack your boat as you continue to wrangle storm / rocks / serpents- once you actually manage to land, you get the reward of fighting upgraded skeletons non-stop- no seriously, they don't stop - I have cleared out 100s of meters of land destroying spawners, killing everything, terraforming the land to make a place where enemies shouldn't be able to spawn at all and every time you turn around there are three more skeletons everywhereA completely stupid experience. For the record, I loved all of the biomes before this and the actual adaptation you had to do to overcome each new challenge, but Ashlands is just fucking stupid in every way. At least the ground is mainly flat so the STILL BROKEN TO THIS DAY attack hitboxes aren't a concern for once.
>>730730804You already gave them your money, why would they do more work?
>>730733750That's why you build your Ashlands base on the shore rocks instead.
>>730733175sounds like pussies
>>730730804Let me ftfy>be small 5 person indie studio>make game that is soulful and blows up>retards demand you hire 16 thousand pajeets to speed up development>you say "no" and stick to your vision, knowing it will take time>slightly expand studio over time to slowly increase the frequency of updatesAaaaaaand that's where we are now. They're also a Swedish studio, so they don't work for 1/4 of the year. Maybe have some fucking patience instead of demanding rushed bullshit so you can complain about the fact that it's rushed bullshit or "lost the vision" or whatever
>>730730804you bought the game when you could just spawn shit in with commands then got bored after one hitting bosses. you need friends to beat bosses and im not gonna talk to people so i stopped after finishing my home, wall and mote. i also built a bridge and port which was hard cause i used wood and it degrades.
>>730733867It is. I think I must have a seed where some of the spawners are actually underground - as in, I will never be able to reach them as they are buried because my experience seems to be worst than most with this. Once Deep North is out I think I may just finally start over with an entire newly generated world. The world my wife and I have played since EA launch has been getting fucked up pretty badly by each new patch / biome. I wouldn't be surprised if our insane (but ultimately managable) Mistlands terrain and this Ashlands crap is part of the patches trying to update old worlds badly. We had never gone far enough out into the world to generate terrain pre-patch for Ashlands but I'm starting to wonder.
Iron Gate is a bunch of lazy n'wahs! You wind up spending more time modding to fix their incompetence than actually playing the game!Holy fucking dog shit!
>>730734072>they don't work for 1/4 of the yearNice try swede, more like they only work for 1/4 of the year (at best).>and stick to your visionIf everything your vision is capable of is two godawful shithole locations with zero redeeming qualities one after another, even when the feedback after the first location was more than enough to not make the same fucking mistakes again, then you should ask yourself maybe even 16 thousand fucking poojeets could do a better job as a game developers.
>>730734072>>you say "no" and stick to your vision, knowing it will take timeI guess you didn't play the Mistlands and Ashlands update
>you beat the boss and are exhausted>enjoy the long trek back to your base with your looti just can't stand this shit in any game that does it. P*lworld has the decency to throw teleporters everywhere and loads of games have some kind of warp home item
It's a sw*de thing
>>730733175Happened to me too. 6/8 left at plains. 2 of us went through mistlands together. I even built this 2nd bigass base for us all a bit closer to the last 2 biomes & they never got back on. I spent so much time and detail on making it a vibe just for only 2 of us to enjoy it.
>>730730804Its incredible how first release was increibled and then they just did nothing with the game
>>730730804Why do zoomers always need more COONTENT? Back in the day a game would release and that's all you had until the end of time and people were happy. A few games would get expansion packs, but that was rare. Now zoomers are frothing at the mouth when a game doesn't get monthly updates, roadmaps, DLC, etc.
>>730734072You forgot>Every biyearly update is a fucking useless dud
>>730734476Explain to me what's wrong with the Mistlands & how it is due to the devs caving to fans instead of doing what they want.
>>730734964>Why do zoomers want unfinished games to be finished? What
>>730734964because few games release feature complete these days
>>730732001same thing happened with stoneshard on ukie side
>>730730804>Get to sailing>Game goes from Norsekino to a 3/10 instantly.Damn.
>>730735927>Get to mistlands>Game goes from Norsekino to a -6000000/10 Fuck off
>>730735060The original dev doesn't even work on the game anymore and if you can't see the difference between mistlands/ashlands and the previous biomes you are wilfully blindAlso by "slightly expand studio" you meant that they hired a tranny
>>730733750Landing in the Ashlands is the coolest thing in the game You can complain about the spawns after you get there but the approach is pure kinohttps://youtu.be/y-OD-nGFHWY
Valheimfags are having it easy
