Looking to get into fighting games. Where should i start?
>>730732593>Where should i start? You don't. You're 10 years too late and now the only games that are alive are shit. I guess there's sf6 which is noob friendly but it gets boring very quick.
Any current sf is always the best way to start. No need to go searching out through a treasure trove of old titles unless you just can't enjoy the modern title for all its benefits and drawbacks. Easiest choice is clearly SF6.
Start with sf6. There's a fuckton of people at your skill level ready to play against you, and it's the easiest one to get into
>>730732593I hate SF6 so much with over 3000 hours of matches with Capcom fighters and over 6000 across all fighting games. You should start with SF6.
For all its faults SF6 is probably the most accessible one atm in terms of access to information and a good spread of player skill level. You're SOL if you wanna play 3D though, Virtua Fighter is barren and Tekken 8 is in a really bad spot and is currently in a state of limbo waiting to see if the devs can actually fix a lot of the issues they introduced in S2 once they move into S3
>>730732593By actually playing them instead of making the same thread twice in a row.https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/730671118/#730671118
>>730732593They're all horrible but street fighter is the least bad
sf6 has a pretty good netcode. Obviously there are bad matches and that's true for every online game and there's no escaping it no matter what you play, but for the vast majority of the matches it's actually kinda scary how smooth it runs.
Sf6 has a pretty big pop for a fighting game which contributes to getting better matches as it's more likely to find people close enough that fit your criteria. I set my matchmaking to only hit with 4-5 bars and it finds matches pretty damn fast (US east coast)
>>730733125Even some of the replies are the same
fuck around wtih fightcade for a few hours before you buy something. Helpa you learn if you fan still have fun even when your shit is getting rocked
>>730732593The only answer is Street Fighter 6.Largest amount of newbies, actual single player content, and an easy control scheme to learn the game with
>>730733648>browncadeGo back
>>730732593mortal kombat 11
>>730733763Why?
LUCK BUFF
>>730733763Who cares? The gameplay and visuals were always shit. The entire MK franchise is carried by the same sort of normalfags who buy yearly basketball releases.
>>730733763only if you like mashing in a dogshit 6 hour campaign and not learn how the game works
>>730733746>buy before tryfool and his money
whatever you do, you should never play sf 6
Play something popular and populated to learn basic fundamentals, execution, and theory. Then you can branch out to play whatever you think looks cool.
>>730732593Street Fighter 6 and it's not even close. Then Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, maybe.
>fightcade and anime steam games are full of dead kuso with no resources so you just get dunked on by one autist left playing>mk and tekken are rough right nowHonestly, i hate to admit it but sf6 is actually pretty good and you should probably just play sf6.
>>730733887it's better than weebshit the others have recommended in every aspect
>>730734436>Then Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, maybe. Why? they did zero research in attracting people outside their community. Imagine holding a world wide tournament and only the people in the local neighborhoods new about it. That's basically what this game offers. Characters with absolutely no world wide recognition, The fighting styles are very lame, mui thai some made up ninja stuff, nothing at all representing different parts of the world at least noticeably. Hell a few nobody characters in there street advancement game had more character than some of their mains... and how bad do you have to feel where your competition takes your mains and does a better job with looks story and move sets. but at the end of the day i enjoy having a fighting game that I can actually learn.
>Looking to get into fighting gamesYou've already fucked up. No one actually plays these shitty games. We just like to shitpost about them.
>>730734832Low bar.
>>730734832
>>730732593You should've started 20 years ago. It's too late now, fighting games are dog shit. Pray the end comes quickly. But in all seriousness fuck SF6, fuck Tekken 8, all these games are crap, go start on Fightcade with 3rd Strike, Soulcalibur, Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, KOF98, or any of the popular games on there.
>>730735290you will never finish your game
>>730732593Waku Waku 7
>>730732593in the 90s
>>730734832By what metric?
>>730735818gonna miss being able to post this because 2026 is the first EVO without an NRS game in 15 years
I have a related question to OPs, which fightan games have good singleplayer/casual content? I have zero desire to become a competitive player, I just want something fun to fuck around in. I remember liking Tekken 7 back in the day, mostly for unlocking wild costume parts or its bowling minigame. And of course there's always stuff like Smash but I know even calling that a fighting game is begging for a flame war.
>>730736119Sf6>>730735818Lol>>730735747You dont play>>730735290>browncade
>>730734841>Why?Because I'm an SNK shill. That's it.
>>730736119None, really. Some series have good sinlgeplayer content relatively speaking, but I think it's pretty apparent when you play games like that that the game was designed for multiplayer first and foremost. The most fun thing to do in fighting games in singleplayer is usually just fuck around with each character's movelist and try combos, but even then those movelists ultimately exist for the sake of playing the character against another player.Mortal Kombat and Soulcalibur are generally the most vaunted for their singleplayer modes, with MK owing much of its modern popularity to fans of its singleplayer who don't actually play the game much past its story mode and messing around with some of its singleplayer content, unlike a lot of other fighting games where people play it and stick with it to play against others. I haven't played it myself but SF6 at least markets itself as having a fairly expansive singleplayer mode too so maybe that would satisfy, but personally I just think you shouldn't go to fighting games if you want a singleplayer experience, I don't think any can really stand on the back of their singleplayer alone. Still, if you really want to, I think some MK, Soulcalibur or SF6 would be the way to go.
>>730736119Mostly old fightan games. Blazblue series has tons of singleplayer content with the highlight is the big VN story mode and BBCF having an arcade mode split into three acts. SF6 has a big world tour mode, MK from 9 to 11 has good content. UNI CLR has a chronicle mode which got removed in UNI 2 for some reason. Injustice 2 same as MK.SoulCalibur series even SC6 has good singleplayer content with libra of souls.DOA5 and 6 has story mode and some good singleplayer modes but mostly on DOA5.Tekken 6 has scenario mode, 3 and 4 has tekken force, 5 has devil within and 8 uhh the downgraded super ghost battle mode? It has a good story mode though.GG XX has a story mode with branching paths. That's all I could think of. Probably someone can add more because it's always on old fightan games that has the most singleplayer content.
