old but still
On my wishlist I have>No Case Should Remain Unsolved>Mystery of the Malign>This Bed We Made>To Hell with the Ugly>The Operator>Nobody Wants to DieAnyone tried any of these and feel strongly about it one way or the other? I'm just looking for stuff that jogs the noggin and gives the satisfaction of solving mysteries
>>730734875This Bed We Made is mostly a story game. Recommend if you like snooping in people's belongingsMystery of Malign is hard detective work. Some focus on dialogue (asking people a lot of things)Nobody Wants to Die is AAA-wannabe walking sim trash. Steer clear
This game looks pretty cool. I've never heard of it before.
how are these?
>>730735302not a detective game. point and click with a lot of handholding
>>730735304These are closer to VNs than puzzle/detective games
The people who made The Roottrees are Dead are releasing another remake this year called Incident at Galley House. Hopefully it will good too
>>730736398I don't think Type Help really needed a remake
How are the Golden Idol games?
>>730736534Very good. Both of them are essential if you're a fan of detective games. The cases can vary from simple to very tricky (especially in some DLCs).
>>730736534Case of the Golden Idol is revolutionary and the story is goodRise of the Golden Idol it varies. Feels more disjointed
>>730737403>Case of the Golden Idol is revolutionaryHow? It just copied Obra DinnAlso, I liked the second one more
>>730737689> It just copied Obra DinnIt didn't. It opened the door to what's actually possible with the basic gameplay loop of Obra Dinnif anything Obra Dinn is getting more dated by the day since it's the same question over and over again copied x60
>>730737403>>730737689Fun fact: Did you know that each of the chapter puzzles in Rise were designed by different people. The overarching story was decided after the fact
>>730737403I was disappointed that for being sciency they didn't figure out more than a guy 300 years earlier, but with the plot maybe it was supposed to be some kind of jab at how gay and lame modernity is.
>>730738126*more with the idol
>>730738126Well to be fair the entire science team were a bunch of incompetent dumbfucks but year you would expect at least Jack to figure something out
I don't really care about these games but I saw a 3 on the sale page and got excited.
>>730734453darkest files is complete shit, dont play it
>>730734875the operator is just a linear story game/VN with barely any solving. it's not bad, just ok if you're nostalgic for xfiles type storiesif you want this kind of computer interface game but that lets you figure out on your own play hypnospace and roottrees instead
On Your Tail
>>730738619why? Is it gay propaganda or something?
>>730734240I got sam & max save the world but none of the other games really caught my eye apart from return of the obra dinn and nobody wants to die
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is a good one. Didn't end up finishing it though.
>>730738841it's remember the six million propagandayou play as a jewish lawyer who investigates nazi war crimes after ww2 working in an office of jewish legal nazi hunters, it's based on the career of a real homosexual jew and so yes this game is meant to be dedicated to his lifework blablahas a detective game, it's pretty lousy and generic in terms of case work, mystery structure and reveal, there are only two real cases and figuring them out wasnt challenging or satisfyingit tries to larp as being influenced by obra dinn because you can explore crime scenes in 3D and revisit memories etc but at the core its really just another handholdy ace attorney knockoff and there's nothing clever about how any of it is constructedthere's so much pointless babbleas a propaganda piece... I'll try to speak from the perspecitve of a poltard who's still capable of being nuanced but it's absolutely a piece of propaganda funded by german gov/jewish interest organizations meant to guilt trip the goyim with extremely heavy handed (((civic education)))the two main cases to their credit actually aren't super heavy handed with the jewish narratives (the main point is they're stories about war times crimes being "ordinary" with some people being complicit through chain of command and following orders even if not directly inflicting harm so it's at least a bit morally grey instead of constantly nazi bad cartoon caricatures) but there's a lot of insufferable caricatural jewish whining in the side plots in the office where you have to constantly go through tunnels of dialogue with your jewish colleaguesI played it knowing it would be propaganda but was ready to ignore that side of it because the idea of ww2 obra dinn could have been interesting but it's not even that
>>730739501More puzzle game than detective but indeed very good
>>730740008I see
>>730735304OK. Not great but not that bad. If you are unlucky to get a certain ending first (like me), you are going to be far too hyped before understanding it usually will lean more towards slice of life (not that bad in general to be fair) with a mystery in background than a thrilling mystery(it went from gotty to OK, pretty fast for me) And most of the clues (except 1-3 that are very easy to miss) are kind of straightforward if we compare with many other gamesI didn't play the second one since the first didn't convince me
>>730735304Gender affirming.
