Styx 3 is literally coming out next month I had no fucking idea it was even announced
Would be a better game if he never had the clone powers.
Both of the first 2 are being given away on Epic in a few days too.
>>730734492you control the buttons you press
>>730734405Movement looks a little too streamlined for my taste>grapple everywhere>glide everywhereBut I enjoyed the first two and I'll enjoy this one
so suddenly Styx is bff with this guy?also there is a lesbian female dwarf in the group.Wokeslop. Shan't buy
Does Ark ever show up in those games or do they all take place before Of Orcs and Men?
>>730735482Yes, he appears alongside his father in a cutscene in Shards of Darkness. There's really nothing to it. Just a "s oyjack pointing" moment for fans of the first game.
>play the demo>mfw jasper
>>730734405Oh, that's why Timmy's giving away those games this week. Neat.
>>730734405Goblinfucker be a like>ah yo, dis me father in law the ol' chap!
>>730735605>>730735482Styx 3 will try to link the series more to Of Orcs and Men. >Blades of Greed acts as the missing link between Shards of Darkness and Of Orcs and Men, and marks the beginning of the Great War. We don’t want to spoil too much, but this chapter plays a key role in tying everything together.
>>730735938I'm torn between playing it now because against all odds I am one of those mythical Of Orcs and Men fans and not willing to start a new stealth series. How're the games as stealth games?
>>730736068I've only played the first one and am gonna play Shards of Darkness soon but the first one is AA sovl and my only major criticism of it is that it recycles environments and the final boss is dogshit. The maps themselves are very very well designed, totally huge and full of secrets and optional routes and loot. You really feel limited in terms of your ability to FIGHT but your toolkit for sneaking is powerful and varied. The little proxy clones you can make and control are so much fun
>>730736448
>>730734405
>>730735714Vince Vaughn's face will never not be hilarious.
>>730735393wait, there's a demo? coolI think second Styx was upgrade over MoS in everything but writing so I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.
I didMe and that other guy have been excited since.
Are these games good if I'm old and really miss the old splinter cells?
>>730738565I'd say they're closer to Thief with the amount of verticality, climbing and huge maps they have. Still fun games for stealth enjoyers.
>>730739151>>730738565Yeah they're Thief-derived not Splinter Cell. 100% worth your time tho.
>"oh there is demo? Guess I'll check it out">18gb>
>>730738565if you're itching for a stealth game then you'll like it. it's just not one that will blow you away unless you never play any other stealth games.
Post the image.
>>730736448>at the first few seconds you take out a guard looking at your direction in near full brightness with his weapon up and ready but it's still an instant kill from the front as Styx steps right in front of himThis game is going to have assloads of enemies to chew through without stealth later on.
>>730744208Anon, I jump him while controlling a clone who turned invisible and then switched back to Styx stabbed him while he had a clone fucking his face. That's an advanced play that requires skilltree unlocks. You can't "bind" enemies or even turn invisible as a clone by default. It's unlocked later. >This game is going to have assloads of enemies to chew through without stealth later on.Nah. I usually do a full murder run on a new map so I can get all the collectibles and learn all the secrets easily but every level built for a full ghost run. That clip is just me making sure to slaughter everybody. The guy I dropped a Chandelier on is actually unkillable except by Chandeliers or poisoned food/water, he's a bigass Paladin type in full armor.
>>730744778>>730744208Oh I see what you mean now. That was a "corner" kill. I snatched him safely from behind cover. Wouldn't have worked if I wasn't hiding.
>>730735014>Movement looks a little too streamlined for my tasteIt's less stealth game and more action stealth going from the demo. Stealth games usually are savescumming marathons but this one looks like it's easier.
>You can still fight humans on Goblin difficulty and higher, instead of being an instakill just like previous games. That won't ruin my enjoyment of the game and the demo is fun but it's pretty telling that this game is made for a more casual audience. Also, the new Jarak VA is ass.
Day 01 but I'm a little wary of the fem dwarf in the trailer, that's a bit gay for Styx.>>730734492>>730734569In this case it's true, I've run through both games twice and never used a clone.
>>730746797>I'm a little wary of the fem dwarf in the trailer, that's a bit gay for StyxIf she shuts the fuck up about munching carpet and only mentions it once, it's sort of okay. But then again if you close your eyes this one time, the next game will have gender reveal parties.
>>730746958Is she actually gay? Haven't played the demo
>>730747005https://youtu.be/IK_C2xu9nqo?si=3M1Y89fvDyEwehN-&t=490It's in the trailer they released a week and a half ago.
>>730746958>next game will have gender reveal parties>green smoke pours out of a box>"It's a goblin!"
>Unreal Engine 5I'm tired boss. I haven't played the 2nd game yet so lemme download it real quick.
>>730747005>Is she actually gay? yes
>>730746797What's wrong with the bottom left? That tower thing looks untextures.
>>730747549>I haven't played the 2nd game yet so lemme download it real quick.Fucking hell don't mate. They made Styx a quippy cunt who basically spouts random pop culture references like he's fucking Gex
>>730747708which is a shame because mechanically the 2nd game is way better.
>>730747385>>730747592FUCK sorry Styx, you're deep sale in 2 years only now.
>>730747708>inb4 Focus SIs it really that bad? I sort of enjoyed the first game at the hardest difficulty. Started the 2nd one right after but dropped it after 15 minutes for some reason.
>>730747624Shards was a budget title.
>>730747847>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft14UHQXfIQthe devs saw deadpool and wanted to make Styx be deadpool too.basically
>>730747847Styx is more like a snarky Deadpool type guy now. It's a fine game still.
>>730734492it's a good enough explanation for why there's coop (though it did mean we were both playing at 1hp 99% of the time so falls more than 5 feet would insta-kill)
>>730748131>>730748145it's cringe but it's fine as long as I don't die then.
I fucking hate bugs and don't understand why they insist on making them a significant part of the game.Even Looking Glass ditched burricks for the second and third Thieves and that was long before players' feedback was easily accessible.
>>730747708Second game is actually good if you ignore the writing. Levels are great. There is finally a point to exploration. Art direction was improved by a significant margin. Animations are smooth. You can easily get off ledges now.And quips are not the only problem with writing. Styx motivation and actions seem completely nonsensical. He's willing to cross the world to defeat an elf who has done nothing wrong to him. But he couldn't care less about the merchant who turned him over to the goblin hunters. And this is a character who is presented to us as vindictive.
