I finished it a couple of days ago. Act 1 is really good but as the plot is revealed my interest declined since it's all fake and I sided with the father more. The combat is good until act 3 when it requires parry for a lot of encounters. It's still a solid 7-8/10 but has some high (soundtrack and art) and low (combat lacks depth, annoying camp scenes, limited world with toy npcs) moments. I think it would be better if this type of story were in a 15-20 hour game instead, kind of like Silent Hill 2.

If there really are sections with abrupt changes and no continuity within the same track as you seem to think, the only plausible reason the professional director would have left it like that is because it was the composer's intention.
