Sounds more like a yugioh character than a lawyer
No reason why he couldn't be both though

But enough about Yu-Gi-Oh.

He did nothing wrong

i still don't get why he did it
i played all of the games and they never explained why he did it or the black locks
am i just missing something

He was a just petty and spiteful person.
>>
>>730764696
he was jealous of phoenix
>>
>>730760674
Better than losing one card game against him and having my life ruined, honestly.
>>
>>730760674
So, if I understood it right (I haven't played this in over ten years), the bad chain of events in the game came about as the result of this card game, yes? If Zak just accepted Kristoph as his lawyer, he'd have gotten him off the hook. He wouldn't have died, the painter guy wouldn't have died, his daughter wouldn't have almost died, Kristoph wouldn't be in jail, Phoenix Wright wouldn't have been disbarred, etc.

Apollo Justice has to be the single biggest let down of this entire series. It's clear that they couldn't decide if let Phoenix go and let Apollo take over, or keep things on the baseline. Great atmosphere and ideas for a game with 3 dogshit cases out of 4 and the only good one being the first.

so he was just that petty lmao
>>
>>730765478
pretty much
there was an interview that allegedly mentions that the backstory for the Gavins was removed to save time, so while there might've been more to it than that at some point, the end result is an entire game that happened due to a petty asshole, which isn't a great foundation for a new trilogy even under the best of circumstances.

Has he killed the deadbeat wizard yet? I'm tired of this dark age of the law.
>>

It was meant to be the beginning of a new trilogy, it's not AJ's fault that DD and SoJ all but completely pretend the game never happened and reverts Phoenix's character back to his original trilogy self
>>
>>730768116
it just wasn't a good start to a new trilogy, the important happen because of one petty asshole that's basically gone for good afterwards, combined with the moment you make your new story about the old guy, it's dooming anything new that could come from it, it has to be able to stand on its own two feet and it can't do that.
I don't like 4-6 don't get me wrong, but even at the most generous terms 4 is just "more AA, but kinda done worse"
>>
>>730763669
He didn't ruin the lives of Yugi or Pegasus though.
>>

These Nintendo DS pseudo-VNs keep hooking me with their first trilogies then betraying me with the second. AA became a complete mess with each entry trying to rewrite the previous one, and Layton's prequel trilogy was so fucking dumb.

I honestly don't even know where I would've taken the series if we lived in the timeline where Takumi didn't get shoved onto the crossover game and capcom wasn't impatient enough to just let him finish that first because there's not much left to follow up on.
The gavins are finished, Phoenix showing back up was a mistake in the first place so he should be gone, it only really leaves Trucy and Apollo and...imma be real i will never be able to come up with a logical reason of why they couldn't be told they were siblings in the game without being a cynical Doyalist and can you really make an entire 5 case game based around that mystery without sounding absolutely insane?
It's also just kinda a hard sell because the magicians were highly unlikable so i would've rather-ed move on from them as a whole instead of investing another game into them.

Somebody please explain how Romein LeTouse knew Lamiroir was a witness through the vent on the other side of the room, and why he'd tell anyone to ask someone he knew was blind about what had happened instead of just saying who shot him.

Best game in the whole series, even if ending was totally nonsensical
