I understand that this board has a hate boner towards XIII but I've never really heard your guy's opinions on the sequel games. Are the considered just as bad or are they hidden gems gatekept by a middling series entry point?

>>730764706Lightning Returns is a weirdly soulful low budget asset reuse game where they got creative.It's similar to how Majora's Mask was cobbled together based on OoT assets and turned out great, and the comparison is apt since it copies the real time doomsday clock as well, except now it's like 60 hours you have to redo if you somehow fail the first time.

The sequels are worse. You thought controlling only Lightning was bad? There's only 2 party members total in the second one and only 1 in the third.

Something I really did not expect at all back in the day.The sequels, however, were truly GREAT games.XIII-2 practically fixed all the flaws of the OG, where as LR was a massive departure but still a great game.The OST and art design in all three titles was top-notch, and the ATB version in 13-1 and 2 is perhaps the most fun variant of the combat system in the series.I put some 100+ hours to all three of them on PS3 back in the day. I love how you could acquire 100% resistance either to Physical attacks or Magic with this bad boy!
