>>730772017
I haven't noticed any other than fags saying there is on here. Therefore there is no resurgence.
>>
>>730772017
Almost supernaturally in-touch dev team and keeps getting better rapidly over time. I think the needle that broke the dam though wasn't the game itself but Blizzard royally imploding on Classic expansions and Turtle WoW. That resulted in a lot of good PR from a brief exodus of WoW players
>>730774610
It has higher average and record playercount than it has in its entire history in recent months. Doesn't hold a candle to either of its competitors numerically still but it's raking in millions nevertheless and seems to have the highest level of player contentment among the three
>>
>>730772017
New owner state there will never be another June Pride event ever again.

this place is nonstop hyperbole and opposite think so anons bump the unnamed general that serves as an ad
when OP says that there's a resurgence he is trying to condition you to believe Runescape is as popular as it ever has been in the past, and hopes your FOMO kicks in and gravitate towards the game, which translates to potential subscriptions

seriously this site is just nonstop ads all day
>>
>>730775756
Playercount has hit all time high in the last few years but yeah, 9/10 posts on this site are shills or bait
Sucks man, best threads on /v/ these days are covert offtopics
>>
>>730775752
Yeah?
>>
>>730775850
I was saying that sailing sucks, what part of that are you confused about?
>>
Two major reasons; the first being the undeniable bump from the big WoW streamers fleeing like the rats they are from the sinking ship that is Blizzard.

The second being one of the first; if not the first major game to stand up against the homosexual tyrants. Saying enough with the faggotry pride events, being homosexual is not a big deal, shut the fuck up already.
>>
>>730775896
I'm sorry to hear that I guess. It doesn't change my point though. Pretty much everyone wanted it but you, so by definition they are "in-touch". Even with that salvaging screwup there was a <24 hours turnaround time and the first following poll focused on the cannon combat, as it should've.
>>
>>730776018
>Pretty much everyone wanted it but you
They're a great dev team especially compared to any other MMO but you're retarded if you actually think that
>>
>>730772017
twitch grifters.
hardcore wow is dead so they jumped ship until blizzard releases a fresh hardcore server for the 17th time
>>
>>730776092
I mean I don't have to "think" it. We have the poll records. You're egregiously in the minority - it's just a fact. I haven't seen much discontent broadly speaking either other than from a few shitstirring OPs. You're out of touch with reality
>>
>>730775847

>>

>>
>>730776245
Trust the heckin pollerino's!
>>
osrs is pretty consistent. WoW and XIV are content rat races with horrendous quality swings. runescape's greater focus on horizontal progression makes it very easy to take at your own pace
>>
>>730776245
they moved the goalposts when they realized it wasnt going to pass are you slow
>>
>>730774865
>Almost supernaturally in-touch dev team and keeps getting better rapidly over time
yes goy ignore the increasingly absurdly obvious bot crisis because now you can sail the funny boat
>>
>>730775983
on your 2nd point that's really only because of the newish CEO who is actually based, he made the call to remove the pride events and is also removing spin2win from RS3 (way too little way too late but good in principle). if it wasn't for the CEO the osrs devs would happily keep piling on the gay stuff like they already were
>>
oldschool redditscape

oldschool botscape

rs3 > osrs
>>
>>730772017
>suddenly
>>
>>730776521
if fagex nuked the venezuelan bots right now, the economy would hyperinflate. Its shitty when bots completely overtake a slice of content but they are like symbiotic parasites right now
>>
What is the difference in wanting to talk about a videogame and being a shill? Where is the line?
>>
>>730776774
god forbid items be worth anything or bonds be obtainable to the average player with ingame gold right? you are partially correct that it would have drastic and immediate economical consequences I just think it would settle to a healthier place, and obviously it's jagex's fault for letting it get so severe in the first place. wildy bot farms literally have formed an ecosystem where groups of bots prey on other groups of bots, as if natural selection and adaptation have been happening from the absolute freedom they have to go unchecked
>>
>>730776521
the players don't actually want the bots gone because then prices for supplies sky rocket. they just want it to look like something is being done while the bots silently slave away in the background
>>
>>730772017
Streamers can't play Turtle WoW so they had to play OSRS since Classic is getting boring for them and the viewers. Classic is stale as hell outside of Hardcore drama.
>>
>>730776869
practically there is little difference to the average user/reader which is why it's such an effective tactic. i guess you could go with the strat of everyone saying nigger in their post hoping that infiltrators won't adopt the mannerism
>>
no but for real i highly recommend rs3 to anyone who wants to start. you can no longer directly buy xp. only bonus xp. which is not nearly as bad. the game is lowkey being saved we are so back
>>
>>730776961
I've played the game for like 20 fuckin years until I quit when they released the "do you want to pay extra for customer support and do you want ads in f2p, sorry we wont do that anymore but we will put ads in f2p anyway one day" survey that made me quit on the spot, and I want nothing more than total botter death
next up remove all the bosses that drop 500 random skilling resources in noted form, maybe with both changes skilling will be worth anything again
>>
>>730776961
I agree with this generally speaking but it's also depressing how exclusive Wildy content in particular has gotten. Everything else is whatever, I can scare some bots away by screwing with their skilling or world hop a few times, but when they have the agency to swarm me and pilfer my inventory en masse with no available recourse it's hard to feel motivated to even try
>>
although i do think osrs is MOSTLY good too

the main issue is that it is literally one of the grindiest games ever made. yes, really.

rs3 = 8/10
osrs = 9/10 if you can actually stick with it
>>
>>730776913
You realize that noobs being able to easily afford membership with low amounts of GP would stop anybody from bringing new bonds into the game and also absolutely fuck jagex's pricing model right
>>
I like OSRS but my problem with it is that some of the grinds are just not fun at all.
>>
>>730777049
They walked that one back pretty quickly at least
>>
>>730777223
That's what makes it so good anon
>>
>>730775752
sailing is based
>>
>>730777234
true but if i got robbed and gunpoint and then told it was just a prank i wouldnt be laughing probably
>>730777163
>you realize that it would make the game less profitable
yes, and better
MMOs pretending to be starving vampires of money is the reason they all suck cock nowadays, jagex makes a shitload of money and they need to act like it rather than look for extra ways to nickel and dime people and raise the subs again and again
it was like fuckin 6 bucks when i was a kid and now im pretty sure it's 14
>>
>>730772017
I haven’t played in 20 years is it still fun?
>>
>>730777336
It was fun for like the first day of release until you realize that they had no idea which direction they wanted to go in and it feels cobbled together and out of place
>>
>>730777372
That is true but, to be doomist for a bit, 95% of AA and AAA companies wouldn't even so much as apologize, much less actually walk something like that back. The userbase having the ability to complain something out of existence and not just get laughed off is a preciously rare trait.
>>
osrs is an official private server. it's still missing content from the original game from 2007 (osrs is pulled from 2007) to 2012 (before EOC and MTX).

i honestly do not like OSRS much these days. where is the gower soul.
>>
>>730777492
completely true, I wish more shitty companies feared their community as much as jagex fears theirs. I fear the power is gradually waning though as the game's gradual focus on new profitable content and minute shittifications is grooming a new and more tolerant audience. the community of old weren't afraid to quit at the drop of a hat, osrs had to be made because they all already quit once and jagex knew they'd do it again if they fucked up. i cant believe people even tolerated the "do you want f2p AND BONDS" in the same poll question however long ago that was. you know damn well nobody wanted bonds but nowadays I think people suck them off as a form of monetization
>>
>>730777502
people will call you a faggot if you like anything about summoning, dungeoneering or any other content from that era except for what they've already added like tormies
however I agree with you and I think dungeoneering was a better skill than sailing(although it was abandoned quickly and still would've been better as a minigame)
please fucking god add stealing creation to osrs
>>
>>730772017
It's been one of the most active MMOs for about a decade. It's only sudden to people rediscovering the game now.
>>
>>730777407
You can just view it as sea-based agility. Letting you fully explore the map is based.
>>
>>730777407
Something people keep forgetting is that it was intentionally released incomplete. I think the T70+ stuff is by and large halfassed because they wanted to get fundamental complaints and rebalances out of the way before dropping the eastern seas so the new questing and high level training will actually feel polished
>>
>>730777823

>that salvaging screwup
The salvaging thing was 100% necessary but OSRS's community is genuinely one of the most pathetic and whiny communities out there.
The major voices are relatively okay and the opinions around late game / real content are usually alright. The horde of mentally retarded 38 year olds who play the game as an idle game however? Truly some of the most retarded, mob-brained fucks you'll ever meet. It's genuinely reddit incarnate, obsessed with mob consensus.
>>
>>730777502
2007 was already too late of a snapshot.
>>
>>730777404
Very different game now, spiritually.
Best I've heard it described is yoga for millennial men. Something with zero thought to grind at.
At the same time there's some fun, high skill and very idiosyncratic late game gameplay to be had there, but only after grinding for forever.
>>
>>730780194

Anyone saying that is not a person, they are a golem.
RS2 with the GE and no free trade was not Runescape.

70% of the userbase asking for something as fundamentally controversial as a new skill in a legacy game is not "barely passing".

Everything proposed could have been slapped into the crafting skill like RS3 did, also no more bank standing skills.
>>
>>730780450
You are wrong. The GE fixed a two problems that were snowballing. Cartels and the production glut so it was a necessary inclusion. People being drawn to the ironman mode shows a longing for the game without it.

The solution they've come up (being ironman mode) with is quite good though and adds the greatest flexibility.
>>
I feel like anyone commenting on the game should post their skills and boss kc to know how seriously I should take them
>>
>>730780724
Cool.
Still wasn't runescape.
I will agree that modern Ironman is far closer to original Runescape than anything else that exists today though, yes.
>>
>>730772017
It's fun and you can drop it and come back and your gear/items will generally be great where they were. A lot of encounters and challenges in the game can be done with increasingly shitty gear and stats depending on player skill instead of arbitrary stat gates/sticks to drive resubscribing and regearing. Quests with actual puzzles and jank make it play more like an old crpg/jrpg than an MMO.

But it starts notoriously slow and many people remember it for clicking on cows, getting bored, then quitting, so it filters hard.
>>
>>730772017
Idk I just started a normal ironman and it's incredibly satisfying, especially when you get rare drops that you don't just immediately sell on the GE.
>>
>>730772017
you get to make lots of interesting choices at mostly every step of your play unlike other mmos which are collect/kill 5 bear asses/put out 5 fires, spacebar garbage writing and upgrade your helmet (green) to helmet (blue) etc, do it again next patch so you resub.
>>
>>730780840
Ironman is great for the first 50 levels in a skill, getting 100kexp feels like you're making progress
Once you start bossing and need supplies, that's when the Honeymoon phase is over and it will take awhile just for you to gather supplies, Herblore is your worst enemy.
>>
>>730781042
the problem is on a main at that point you're pretty much doing the same thing. Except instead of grinding for gear, you're stuck in the Mandatory Vorkath Enslavement Pit until you have ~1b net worth (300-400 hours). Just depends on what grind you prefer.
>>
>>730776751
I loved RS3 but Necromancy killed my interest in the game. Jagex unfortunately went down a route where they are trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and all gear is basically completely fucking worthless now.
>>
rs3 > osrs
>>
>>730781359
RS3 as an Ironman was lit, always felt that there was a constant way to progress since there's too much content

No, you're not. There is a lot of content that gives great gp and doesn't require a lot of gear or astronomical combat stats, provided that you don't totally suck. You can solo Yama with a decently high mage level and a purging staff, for example.
