It's really fucking hard.
Most of the difficulty comes from not knowing where to go at first because if you go to the wrong room it can be extremely punishing. Try to get an energy tank in Brinstar, that will make navigating Brinstar and Norfair easier which lets you get even more upgrades. After that the biggest nuisance is dying and respawning with only 30 energy in Kraid or Tourian since the enemies are strong in those areas.
Zero Mission comes with Metroid 1 and I never got pass the first few areas despite beating ZM multiple times on my GBA.

>>730773035Skill issue
>>730773035Famicom/NES games are; it's the exception if one isn't.
>>730773035>screenshots you can hear
>>730773035all things considered it's only of middling difficulty relative to many nes games
easier than SM, as long as you draw a map
>>730773878I too am able to remember music.
It's more annoying than hard. Once you get morphball and bombs, the game is a smooth sail when it comes to blasting everything, but then there's shit like Intentional Dead-ends because Metroid is a fucking Time attack game and it has shit meant to waste your time, then there's Kraid and Ridley who're aids to beat because they spam a lot of shit that blocks your shots.
Easy gameShould recover more hp from drops though
>I love metroidvanias, exploring the games world is so fucking cool>metroid is a series about isolation on an alien world, slowly gaining weapons until youre an unstoppable killing amchine>I love looking for secrets and sequence breaking>nintendo on their very first try:>/v/>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THIS SUCKS I AHTE THIS WAAAAAAAH WHERES MY MAP WHERES THE CHOZO STATUES TO TELL ME WHERE TO GO ITS TOO HARD I WANT TO WALLJUMP WAAAAAAAAAAAAHH
>>730773035use the map from Nintendo Power
I just wish you started with full health, or at least had a way to quickly recover it. I'd be more willing to put up with shit if I didn't have to waste 10 minutes grinding for health every time I die.
look children. We call this a 'meltie' and 'swinging at ghosts'Learn from this and don't repeat that behavior
>>730774942just use the romhack then
>>730775148That's would mean you didn't beat it.
>>730774876Metroid came out years before Nintendo Power existed.

>>730774876there's a map in NP first issue
>>730773035It really isn't.

>>730775476FDS has way better sound and can save the game so that. But it has long load times when you first start.
>>730775476I only know the NES version so that one.
>>730773035I can help you with that, baby.
>>730775326In the early days, Nintendo Power spent as many pages going over older already released titles as it did brand new ones. They covered Metroid multiple times, even.
>>730773035but oh so good.
>>730773035>game is literally 1/10 on the difficulty scalenu/v/:>WOW THIS IS LITERALLY THE HARDEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED
Zero Mission is better
>>7307730351- due to the nature of the game enging, every time you go through a door the scrolling will alternate between left/right to up/down. Mental mapping is a lot easier knowing this.2- Remember where energy tanks are, BUT avoid getting the easier ones. they help way more as a quick way to max out your energy just after loading a password3- in the early areas and before you find the varia, it's faster to just retry till you don't get hit than to grind health every time.
