I think from a RPG systems perspective FFXI is the best Final Fantasy and maybe the best computer RPG. I mean that in the sense of as a complete RPG system for simulating combat in a fantasy setting FFXI is the most complete and compelling ruleset in the franchise and is the most fun to experiment and play around with, it allows for the expression of so many different character types. The jobs in FFXI all have their own little niche and feel unique, I love it. I'd play more games using FFXI's RPG system as a basis. I like it better than D&D, Pathfinder, or SPECIAL or really any other RPG system. I like how each of the base attributes is tied to an element, I like how the elements are laid out, I like how the days of the week correspond to each of the elements/attributes and this also ties into the 8 cardinal directions, all of it just works and I like how well thought out it all was.Now if I could change one thing about the cosmology I'd replace their dualist religion into a polythesistic religion with 8 gods each matching one of the elements/attributes/days/ect So instead of Firesday, lets say Ifreet is your Fire/STR god it'd be Ifreetsday, something like that. Anyway, I like it and I want to play more RPGs using FFXI's RPG. No other game scratches my FFXI build autism itch now, the way stats interact is just so good, and making equipsets for every single ability and weapon skill is fun. I also like how the loot isn't random but planned out and how each NM has a unique drop, there's so many aspects of the game I love and appreciate.That said, not a huge fan of MMOs. I'd prefer FFXI the full party RTwP CRPG.
