As time has gone on, I think it’s a fair 7 on a good day, maybe a solid 6.5. You could maybe argue a higher number because despite its middling rating, it has kept me engaged for a long time. I think the biggest issue is that the highs and lows are so vastly disparate and the game has too many annoying syste-ANOTHER SETTLEMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP. I’VE MARKED IT ON YOUR MAP.My biggest TRVKE will always be that the main plot feels much more impactful if you play as FemSurvivor because the stolen baby is so young that she’d have a stronger connection to it at that point - and her voiceover sounds far less retarded. Also as much as it jimmyrustles people, MUH SUBVERSION of a tiny woman carving her way through a hostile landscape to reconnect with her child just makes for a cooler plot because she feels more like an underdog relying solely on Maternal Instinct. Unfortunately, almost all other decent companion stories and side quests like Paladin Danse or The Silver Shroud both sound and feel more logical as MaleSurvivor so you’re probably better off doing them on a separate file instead of falling into the classic Bethesda trap of making a character that is basically the God of everything and master of all factions.

Base building and survival mode are actually great for fallout, and easily the best thing that Bethesda has added to the series, but overall it's not a "good" game unless you have no standards or add 100 mods. Modded out, it's actually super fun, but I'm not giving Todd credit for the work of the fans.
