Is the Warlords Battlecry series worth checking out?
Yes, absolutely. Quite a unique game, with tons of cool ideas that you won't find anywhere else. Also the best blend of RTS and RPG.You can skip the first one.
>>730787330How does it compare to Heroes of Might and Magic? I only ask because that's the only other RTS/RPG hybrid I know of
>>730787560It's a proper RTS, no turn-based strategy game. With all the base-building, resource management and army building that comes with that genre. Also real time strategy, though you can pause any moment to give commands.Heroes are permanent. You keep your hero, even when you finish the mission. Their levels stay, their equipment as well. You can take your hero through the campaign and also use for custom missions. The hero also influences the battle to a much larger degree. They are proper units that fight, cast spells, can build buildings. Many classes and races for heroes, especially WB3 has a great deal of customization.
I can not stress enough how much I love warlords battlecry
>>730787560If you want Turn based strategy, check the Warlords series. Battlecry is an RTS spin off, warlords is a different kind of game, full on turn based
>>730787098I liked it as a kid but its not a very good rts. It has a crazy number of factions though. Your hero ends up cracked and you more or less have to handicap yourself to not stomp everything. The campaign in 3 is fun imo
