It's already in development.

sweet, it will be restarted at least 5 times and release around 2040
>>
>Prime 5
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
>>
>>730788817
Probably depends on how well Metroid 6 does.
That said. They really could and probably should just make a brand new, non-Prime, non-OtherM 3D Metroid at this point though.
3D Metroid doesn't need to be Prime.
>>
>>730788846
Read the recent interview. 4 took long after the cancellation of the first version at Bamco because Retro Studios lacked the infrastructure to make it at the time so they had to spend a while hiring for all the necessary positions. Now they have everything in place.
>>
>>730788817
Other M 2 will be made instead
>>
>>730788817
time for a topdown metroid
>>
>>730788992
how did they make the other prime games without the infrastructure?
>>
>>730789118
They used to have it but no longer. Retro Studios always had a ton of staff turnover and many devs were burned out from working on the Prime series by the time they shipped Echoes. Some left then, others after Corruption. They hadn't made a first-person 3D game since then and needed to hire staff for it again, not to mention it being their first HD game in that style and generally being their first game in a decade to get off the ground and not ending up cancelled.

By the way, the staff that left Retro post-Prime 2 and 3 mostly went on to form Armature Studio which was just shut down by Amazon. Maybe some of them could go back to Retro.

>America-based studio
Nah, we're not getting Prime 5
JP devs are way cheaper
>>
>>730791274
This is Nintendo. They didn't close or downsize Retro after they failed to deliver anything but a port and a remaster from 2014 to 2025 and they weren't even working as a significant support studio in the meantime. They're not going to waste all the work they did getting them back into shape now that they've finally put a new game out and if you've played Prime 4 you'll know it sequel baits way more heavily than all the previous ones.
>JP devs are way cheaper
And none of them is suitable to make a first person shooter. They don't even make 2D Metroid in Japan anymore.
>>
>>730788817
Hopefully not. I want metroid as a series to die. I cannot bear to see it ruined any more.
>>

>They don't even make 2D Metroid in Japan anymore
No wonder it turned into generic QTEslop then. Japanese are the only ones who can do anything right.

I see them making a Prime 5 using assets they made for 4, taking into account all the criticisms. They could actually do it right. It's obvious the game was unfinished even in the music department. A lot of the music sounds like half-baked rough music concepts that annoys me. Interesting ideas but lots of out-of-time stuff. Basically Nintendo rushed the game to market probably knowing they would make 5 no matter what just reusing the new assets (which look good as fuck and you forget how good it looks until you boot it up again).

I have a suspicion Mercury steam will remake Super Metroid also as they've practiced with other titles.

>>730788817
nintendo is such a pathetic company
>>
>>730791993
If MS remakes anything it’d be Fusion. That’s what they originally wanted to do before Sakamoto put them on SR
>>
>>730792262
Nahhhh..... Nobody wants a Fusion remake
>>
>>730788890
Man I love elephants

No fucking way. This series is dead. Nintendo is grateful for the brand loyalty of Americans, who probably single-handedly prevented the game from losing money, but that's it.
>>
>>730788992
This. Prime 4 was a case of making the best of a bad situation. They salvaged a broken project, and in doing so, set themselves up for Prime 5.

They could've scrapped the whole thing and made a better Prime 4. But they used this project as a springboard to build up 4K/8K libraries and workflows. It gave them money to hire new staff and train them on the Metroid fundamentals. After a decade of failed projects, they had to see something to completion, and salvaging the Bandai project is the sort of brown nosing that lets Retro remain semi-autonomous.

We’re getting Prime 5, the west loved Prime 4, it was also the top 1 in the US eshop for 20 days until the Cyberpunk sale

It's still funny to me how devs make those giant worlds when nobody really enjoys them that much and think they need to add dumb collectible shit at every corner to make it good.
Instead of just making a smaller map
>>
>>730794289
>giant world
>it takes maybe 90 seconds to cross from one corner to the opposite one
>>
>>730788817
I'm hoping they decided to cut their losses with prime 4 and use it as a means to make an updated engine for prime 5 (the actual sequel). Prime 4 was dogshit all around, but at least it looked good and had good combat.
>>
>>730794518
That .webm is almost a complete minute of nothing.
Compare it to old games like OoT
>>
>>730793670
>They salvaged a broken project
How? IT was so terrible it poisoned the brand and trust, no one is going to buy a prime 5 by the same staff
>>
>>730788817
>racing slicks on loose sand
I'm offended as a person who has been in the vicinity of a motor vehicle at least once in my life..
>>
>>730794990
like 60% of Hyrule Field is completely empty besides some grottos
>>
>>730794289
>when nobody really enjoys them that much
Normalfags buy them because WOW HUGE WORLD. Or at least they used to, I don't think it has such a big pull anymore
The point being that it does well in marketing and normalfags only play the first 5 hours of a game anyway

Metroid pim 4 was ok but felt kinda short, contrary to what i expected the sand hub wasn't as boring as i thought it would be. Having to be launched out of a cannon to come and go to the starting area? Now that shit ground up my gears and nobody ever mentions it, wouldn't surprise me if everyone complaining about mp4 didn't even play it.
>>
>>730795453
And the overworld is significantly smaller so it does it job of having an actual game world/geography
>>
>>730793670
>They could've scrapped the whole thing and made a better Prime 4.

Then they should have. It would've sold better and allowed them to build their libraries all the same.
>>
Prime 4 is to the Metroid Series what The Phantom Menace is to Star Wars.
Will Prime 5 be Attack of the Clones?
>>
>>730795521
It's not any smaller relative to the speed you traverse it at. It's a bit less than two minutes both from Lake Hylia to Kakariko Village and from Ice Belt to Flare Pool. I know you haven't played Prime 4, please stop here.

Takes like a minute or two by foot to cross the map in OoT and you run past different kinds of locations and stuff
In Prime 4 you use the motorcycle for over a minute and there is nothing (I recommend looking at the webm in question)
>>
>>730795825
>and you run past different kinds of locations and stuff
No, you don't. If you cross Hyrule Field in a straight line, the only point of interest you come across is Lon Lon Ranch in the middle. Everything else is on the perimeter. Sol Valley in Prime 4 is the same exact thing and takes the same time to cross. Chrono Tower in the middle and everything else on the perimeter, plus some Galactic Federation wreckage and Lamorn Shrines scattered inbetween.
>(I recommend looking at the webm in question)
I recommend playing the game before making a fool of yourself on the internet.
>>
>>730795825
>I recommend looking at the webm in question
So you admit you didn’t play it
