Is the Steam Deck(OLED) still worth it in 2026?
>>730789834Why would it not be?
If you 1) are a couch potato2) don't have a desktop3) travel a lotIt's a good purchase.
Maybe if you can find really cheap used one
>>730789874Can it still fulfill its original premise of being a portable PC where you can play all your Steam games
>>730789909>a portable PCI guess>where you can play all your Steam gamesYou can't play "all games", you can play most of them, but some are just too demandingFor instance I would never play cyberpunk on the steam deck but if you tolerate low graphics 30fps have fun, some games won't run even at that
>>730789834Easily.
I have the lcd model and its all i play on now. Couldn't care less about running modern AAA shite.
>>730789909it depends on the game. it's basically just old pc running linux. some games work, some don't, some work but poorly.there's usually steam deck compatibility thing on steam store page. but use it only as guideline because it might not be accurate.
>>730789909Yes.All games I would ever want to play portably, in any case.
>>730790361>All games I would ever want to playWhat does that mean exactlyFor all I know all games you would ever want to play are 6th gen and older
>>730789834Yes, does anyone know if you can stream HDR over network?
>>730789834Mine arrived last week, been playing all indie games exclusively in bed now.
>>730789909It'll play the vast majority of games out there just fine with no effort. You can technically play anything, even kernel level anti-cheat or super demanding games with a bit of effort.
>>730789834No, it's too bulky and goofy to be a practical handheld. Having that in public would look so fucking retarded, lmao.
>>730789880Desktop≠umpc
>>730791589>what would ppl think!Imagine being so insecureAnd so is switch
>>730789834been looking to upgrade my LCD, i ended up buying a legion go s z1e. wanted the oled screen but ended up preferring better performance. so far it's pretty good but i only got it last night, can finally play state of decay 2 at stable frames without it looking like shit so that's pretty epic
>>730789834I don't understand this controller design, it looks fucking massive. How are you supposed to hold this? Your thumbs and presumably ring/middle fingers if there are double L/R controls are centered on the top, but it's too bulky to support from just the top half without straining your fingers since it won't comfortably rest on the palms. There are touchscreen(?) controls on thumb stretch and two nearly inaccessible buttons that you have to change your whole hand position for too. It's like they took everything bad about how the Switch controls and made it even worse. I don't get it.
>>730793037I've used the ASUS ROG Ally X, the Lenovo Legion GO, and the Steam Deck OLED.The Steam Deck beats every single other handheld in ergonomics. The trackpads aren't meant to be used extensively. I use them for a radial menu in FFXIV and an actual mouse touch pad, but that's it.There are also four buttons on the back of the device that your fingers rest on so you can map ABXY to them.I normally map one for jumping and another for melee in FPS games so I never have to remove my thumb from the camera stick.
