I think most people are too harsh on remakes. They're an convenient alternative and the upsides outweigh any negatives in almost every case. The only people that try to tell you otherwise are autist that have made caring about trivialities their life mission.
Remakes that fundamentally change the game are the only real cases for a remake to exist. Think of FF7 or the Resident Evil remakes.I hated MGS Delta because it was just the normal MGS3 except with models that made my eyes bleed and took away all the charm. No new content whatsoever. What's the point? Just make a remaster.

>people who watch movies fully acknowledge that remakes are just cynical corporate cashgrabs designed to make money from the nostalgic value of the IP without actually putting in real effort>people who read books or manga are always ready to point out what was butchered, skipped or dumbed down in an adaptation>/v/ defends corporate remakea and simps for trashy streaming service adaptationExplain why the average "gamer" is even more tasteless and with lower standards than normalfags.
I've personally no interest going back to shitty controls and graphics, so remakes are a-okay in my book. It's best for games that I didn't play when they were new. Other good ones are the ones that I've played previously and liked, but the remake changes the game enough so it seems worthwhile to play it again.
