Is this worth getting? I'm not a huge handheld guy, but the PS5 is my primary platform and it seems handy for when I'm on work calls that I don't need to pay attention to and to spend more time with the family without having to watch bad TV shows with them

The screen makes it worth it if you don't mind cloud streaming.
You can do it with your phone as well, using PS Remote Play. it's the exact same service. On a Steam Deck you can use an app called Chiaki to do it. It's on Switch as well, if you have it homebrewed, but the OLED isn't softmoddable, otherwise I would've just told you to do it on Switch.
