I have only played 1 and its expansions and I would say they're all good games, albeit severely overrated in this board, so go for them. Two words of advise:
>You have to download a patch and paste it on each folder, including the expansion ones, for the fps fix, otherwise the games will drop to 20fps.
>Extraction Point has a game breaking bug in the mission "The L" due to a memory leak which crashes the game and has no real solution to this day. The only way I managed to beat the level was by uninstalling the game, deleting the files, reinstalling it, use a skip command to skip all the way to that level AND play it at low settings, and once the level is over, I could go back to max settings.

Also, don't take the story seriously, not even the devs knew where to go with it to the point that the expansions are considered not canon.

Anon please, F.E.A.R. 1 absolutely had the issue of having so little enemy variety that you could count them with one hand. Almost every encounter boils down to kill the same group of replicants with the very rare armored soldier and later a literal handful of mechs, and when you're finally introduced to the ghouls, the game is practically over. The famed intelligent enemy AI can't carry the game by itself and hearing them saying "FLASHLIGHT" is not the epitome of enemy behavior you think it is.

For me, it was the stealth soldiers, those fuckers in Hard would tank half a magazine and were extremely annoying to fight even with slow-mo because of how erratic they moved. FEAR 1 is good, but it is brought down a bit by taking place entirely in office buildings and the most boring industrial sites you've ever seen.
The expansions are entirely skippable unless you really find yourself needing more FEAR 1.
FEAR 2 has rape and pretty nice mech sections. The shooting isn't as good as FEAR 1 and the story isn't as interesting. For some reason I never played the DLC so no opinion on that.
FEAR 3 is absolute fucking garbage. Don't play it, even if you have a co-op buddy willing to suffer through it.
