No because the infrastructure in the United States is extremely antiqued and can’t support it. The last time someone tried to do something about it with Obama the money disappeared and went into the share holders pockets. You already see blackouts in Texas from AI data centers.

This shit is the worst. It was bad enough that banks are attempting a functional monopoly on housing in cities to make everyone rent to them for the rest of time. Surely that would be enough, but no, you HAVE to rent every single thing. Individual ownership doesn't generate enough capital for these billionaires and soon-to-be-trillionaires, they NEED you to give up 80% of your income every month in monthly expenses to keep the stupid line going up. We're rapidly approaching CCP levels of citizen raping.

I've used cloud computing before and if bezos thinks the average normal retard is going through the effort of learning how dockers and apis work, he's retarded.
The good thing is he knows they won't, and knows this plan isn't viable for real, he's just trying to trick investors into thinking the AI push isn't a bunch of lemmings charging off a cliff and that there's a backup plan.

Amazon is pushing their Luna shit hard, especially by effectively bundling it together with twitch. I used it very briefly and was surprised how well it actually worked, but I honestly doubt it's much of a success, as otherwise they would be bragging about their actual users 24/7. Having it a part of prime allows them to distort the reality a fair bit, though.

They have already achieved total surveillance state without having centralized the IT side, which should tell you something that should make the hair on your neck stand if you're not an idiot.
If they wanted centralization, they would have had it already because their energy is basically free, there's too much energy produced already.
Still, if you so desperately want western populations to have CCP backdoor hardware on your territory, keep pushing this retardation with no ownership, you're doing the advertising work for the chinese.
Nvidia already saw this concerning future and stated they're turning on the tap for rtx3060 cards, so at least some people in the west aren't total idiots.
>>
The absolute minimum hardware required to stream something off of someone else's computer would still be powerful enough for all of the average consumer's tasks. Anyone that wants high end gaming or rendering is always going to prefer doing it locally even if it's more expensive.

Streaming shit just isn't going to take off.

How does this benefit the consumer in anyway? It's just CEO's and Jews going mask off yet again

No one wants to stream their games, no one's going to pay monthly forever and ever for 3 hours of gaming a day when they grew up on a shitty old laptop playing minecraft, people will simply emulate on raspberry pi's or some other old hardware
People are fucking sick of subscriptions, people don't want to pay more

They failed to force it when everyone was locked in their homes with a gorillion westoid games to play.
What the fuck makes you think they can push it now when there's zero westoid games worth playing and the very few indies people give a fuck about can be played on ewaste that technically can't even run windows 10 anymore? (10, not 11).
>>
>>730806978
>Outrageous hardware prices are just the beginning. You won't have a choice.
There's nothing actually pushing up the prices beyond the corporate elites all agreeing to do it and reserve all the hardware for their data centers. They're artificially causing the consumer market to become unfeasible so that people get used to not having any options, and then they launch cloud as the solution to the problem, and then people willingly lease computers for 100 dollars per month.
>>
>>730807326
The thing is, Cloud gaming is awesome, when it's free of charge and hosted just through your own computer with Steam or Moonlight, or a PS Portal. But when it becomes the only choice they start controlling what it costs, and then that becomes the new growth model where it keeps getting more expensive and they enshittify the features available to you over time.
>>
>>730810589
Hardware was cheap then. Going forward, consumers will have to decide whether it make more sense to pay $10k or more for a pc, or $20/month for a cloud computing subscription.
>>
>>730810820

>>
>>730810820
Thing is people are already getting uppity over the increasing costs of TV subscriptions recently. The iron's cooling off and they should have struck with this "drive the price up of hardware then launch cloud computing" thing much earlier.
>>

>>

>>
>>730811115
That + the cost of cloud computing is still costing you more than buying a gaming pc for the time it will last.
>>
>>730811020
A government leased tablet with a keyboard or a monitor.
Like, this plays into the whole "environmentalism" unfortunately, because Datacenters are cost efficient and recycle water. They can so easily convince any government that removing access to personal ownership is going to aid the environment.
Then the government will just send out police to check if a household's electricity footprint is too large and request people don't use any device with more than 400 watts.
This is probably also why Blackrock and Blackstone are investing in housing everywhere. They wanna normalize the house leasing market so they can make corporate politics about ownership. It's already normal to say you can't own pets in many rental houses, and in EU you have to sort trash correctly and in some countries it's enforced via surveillance and police. They can just expand that to computer hardware, and I think they're going to, at least by 2030.

The fuckers.

The root problem are the politicians, that's why you institute a public tribunal to execute them all, from the mayor of your local city to the president and their families whole, then you start rebuilding a proper power structure with cyclical autopolicing compromised of people who understand that the well being of everyone is only beneficial to everyone, including those in power.

Look it's a proportionality thing. If we remove all people's 750W computers in homes, with a 25-40w potato device and force it, and the rest are datacenters? The total amount of energy consumed is probably less than giving people computers in every home.

And they're going to use that, and this is why the scientific community is already super positive about this. I warned my family members over christmas that this hardware drought is because they'll be pushing "Hardware-as-a-service" and their reaction was just "Yeah we already use cloud computing for our research most of the time. It's really awesome!" >_>
>>
Oh streamed gaming. Like the Phantom. Like Onlive. Like it never works but some CEO always eats up the idea Like Facebook ate up VR.
>>
>>730811643
the current data centers are already causing droughts due to having to diverge water to them rather than it being used by people, and nobody even started looking into pollution, I would bet my ass they have shitty safety checks and the water will probably get contaminated by some garbage in their tubes.
Furthermore people aren't using their pcs to mine bitcoin, they are almost never running at 100% power while data centers are always at capacity.
>>
>>730811643
>The total amount of energy consumed is probably less than giving people computers in every home.
lolno, not even close
even an entire population having 1000w computers and using them constantly is less than a single datacenter in the same region
i will remind you the amount of power AI datacenters need is so asinine that the power grid in muttland already is overloaded to shit and corpos can't even turn on most of their buildings because of it

Anyone who makes games specifically for the strongest most expensive hardware is going to be in for a rude awakening. No, you'll be essentially renting a graphics card from the amazon server, probably paid for with a monthly subscription model. A ton of people that never shelled out dosh for a $2,000 graphics card will probably be happy to pay $30 a month for that service, but anyone who has already built a good computer in the last 10 years will see that they are being completely screwed out of ever upgrading their rig at a reasonable price again. People who play on graphics cards that they own now will also see and detest the fps difference in streaming a game vs playing directly off of a desktop that you own, but all of the poor people that will get priced into pc gaming with this wont notice the difference and will drown out all the complaints of the people that took gaming seriously enough to invest in it when that was still financially feasible. Its all pretty grim.

If you ask me expecting people to ditch the way they play to subscribe to a streaming platform to play AI games is a tough sell even for Bezos. I´m more inclined to believe most gamers would compromise by buying lower hardware tiers over relinquishing ownership in favor of his proposal.

Yes, the mainstream video game industry will become unrecognizable in our lifetime and be 99% AI generated gachaslop for gambling addicts played from remote clients within the next 10 years. And then the question becomes: was that all games ever were? Vapid, superficial neural feedback for mentally stunted blue light addicts? Will there be local, analog video game development communities that spring up and sustain the medium as something more than corporate, digital crack? Will they make locally supported games that distribute via word of mouth and dont need the blessing of the almighty algorithm to earn enough funds to develop another game? Will real, non corporate-entity human beings make games that are designed to inspire joy and not fear of missing out on temporary in-game store deals? Games that help people make real connections and stimulate their creativity? I think its possible.

The thing is that the Bankers are getting outcoup by the ones whom they gave money in first place.
Remember Casino where the Old fucks of the chicago outfit began killing each other to not go to jail thanks to rosenthal and tony spilotro? this is what happening right now.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk7PtC2KBR0

Again, the world hard resetting to a Cold War status after a exchange is something they dont want, because who will rule the banks and the money will be the STATE, and the System aka the STATE hates losing money even to bankers.
Globohomo put their all of their cards on the dems when Obongo took over and forced a crash to push their agenda, but they forgot that people's patience is too small the moment they lose money, same goes to the State, and they spent nearly 20 years bribing and manipulating people to never rise against them again, only to literally run out of money because all of their money is now at the hands of the people they paid to shut up.
And now that Maduro was arrested and orange man bad finally got the proofs he wanted that Elections were being manipulated by them, The entire might of the STATE can be finally be used to do what it does best, Control everything and punish those who tried to put the System down.

>>730815718
The reason this keeps going is because the US is still slowing everything down, the moment trump gets what he wants it even if he has to destroy nato and take greenland for himself, he will pull everything from europe and let Russia do what they want without repercussions.
Again, we are watching a new division of the world happening in front of us.
I fear that the UN may not last Long as NATO, these ghosts of the first Cold War should had been disbanded by the late 90's.

If there are any efforts to keep computing alive it will be underground by necessity, prohibition style, limiting its reach and spread by virtue of everyone going to prison for unauthorized usage of unregulated computing devices.

Something you wannabe rebel types don't seem to comprehend (which is probably why you're not mentally competent enough to afford and acquire access to firearms), things are not nearly that bad yet. No one wants to die. And looking at history, the majority of revolutions (including successful ones) almost always end up in a worse status quo than the one that came before it. It takes a large number of people who feel that they have already lost everything for a revolution to even become slightly possible. Until there is no Internet, TV, vidya, a lack of heating/AC, and a food shortage affecting >50% of the entire population at once, nothing is going to happen.

You are witnessing the result of foreign agents being able to completely flood social media to such an extent that nobody is able to actually escape it.
You genuinely cannot trust anything you see online anymore, since it could be coming from Pakistan or India with the intent to spread FUD or a bot trying to push you to buy something. Even if you're not on social media, you could be talking to someone duped by it themselves.
This works to the benefit of the ones in power because there's so much bullshit out there you eventually have to tap out, which lets them run rampant and unchecked.

Compounding off of this is factors such as but not limited to podcastbros/influencers talking completely out their asses, news organizations that have a vested financial interest in spinning narratives, and search engines deteriorating giving you primarily fucking reddit posts as results. It should not be as hard as it is to stay informed these days.

the difference is that Trump could claim to be a political outsider in his first term and was still popular for his second
Newsom has a long history of messing up politically and he is reviled outside of California

>>
>>730815997
No, Stadia failed to become trendy years back because people prefer to own their hardware and the added lag makes a whole ton of games unplayable, particularly in multiplayer because of the effectively doubled network traffic. Imagine having ping in a singleplayer game, now imagine you have to compete for bandwidth to play a singleplayer game, that's the reality of cloud gaming.

It isn't feasible because of infrastructural and technical limitations these guys don't really understand because it's firmly out of their field of expertise. They're just hoping to commodify anything they can to turn a dime because society, globally, has pretty much run out of room for further economic growth, but the nature of the economic system demands infinite growth. Cloud gaming, AI powered railway carts, Juicero, groundscrapers, these are all just techbros trying to commodify basic shit by creating a problem that shouldn't exist and then selling the solution to you.

All fucking techbros must fucking hang, and we need to do it before they invent trains for the Nth time.

Every cloud company throws away, pardon, recycles heaps of hardware every single day. Much of that hardware gets "recycled", a.k.a. the chips pried out of it and re-arranged into "gaming" motherboards on AliExpress. We'll have plenty of hardware to game on, as long as we're willing to go there. It will kind of suck, but gaming will be still quite possible.

Thats the reason. There isnt other. Rent-seeking behaviour is massively more profitable than selling-to-own. Hence in capitalistic systems tend to steer towards this sort of markets wherever possible, since more profitable companies can outcompete less profitable ones. Its simply about core tenet of free markets - as expensive a product with as shitty quality as possible the customers are willing to put up with, and with profit incentive suppressing fair wage growth people are ever more willing to pay for shittier products since they are ever more strapped for cash.
