if youve been following the mess this game went through in development its honestly a miracle the game has managed to came out in its current state. they didnt even have a real gameplay loop until a few months ago.if i remember correctly the game only had a few years of development on the java engine following the trailer until riot trannies took over and tried re-writing everything.with the pace development has been going since simon re-aquired it im interested to see how different things will look in 6 months time or so.

I personally think that Minecraft is both too easy and too pointless (there isn't really a point to most of the new features other than decoration or collecting advancements, which went from actual markers of game progression to just checkboxes to force completionists to interact with new content), and needs more non-optional difficulty. Personally, I would have made the spikes work like dripstone (dealing multiplied fall damage compared to regular falling), and inflict both bleeding and a long-term disease that needs to be treated with herbs or potions. Hopefully Hytale's base game will be able to be stripped down to just a block and entity system so that I can make an actually difficult minecraft clone that is realistic but isn't Vintage Story (vintage story feels more like a job simulator than a simulationist RPG)
