this is basically what happened to Riot's Hytale btw
Why wouldn't this work?
>>730809348this is actually what those of lower intellect think the anti-piracy argument is

Piracy has no effect on sales :)
>pirate OP's mom>delete her number when I'm done
Is there any stats on whether Denuvo has done anything for sales whatsoever
>>730809519It's what they've been telling us for decades, that they lose money on every pirated thing, when in fact, the person who pirated it wasn't going to buy it anyways if he couldn't pirate. For example, I pirated space lesbians 2 electric boogaloo (outer worlds 2) because I think the first one was an absolute scam at 14€ I paid, so not spending 80€ for more of the same, but I still need to see how fucking garbage it is anyways.
>>730809348Well due to software piracy, the industry has seen some 12 billion dollars and over 100,000 jobs lost. The attraction of piracy is due to its anonymity and the ease with which illegal copies of software can be made and distributed. However, every person who makes illegal copies is contributing to the monetary losses caused by piracy.Information really does not "want to be free." People who write the software have rights to profit from it, just as people who write books have the sole right to sell them. Copying software is depriving the rightful owners of software of hard-earned wages.Software piracy cannot be protected by the first amendment, because the first amendment does not cover illegal activities. Just as yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater is not protected by the first amendment, neither is the distribution of illegal software. The claim that pirates have a right to make illegal copies of software because the software is buggy, or too expensive, or not frequently used by the pirate, is also flawed. Someone might think a Rolls-Royce is too expensive and not worth the money, but this doesn't give him the right to steal it. Or, the fact that you almost never watch television doesn't give you the right to steal a TV.Pirating software costs everyone. Since not as many copies of software are sold, the software manufacturers have to raise prices. This means that the legitimate users are incurring higher costs due to piracy. In short, piracy is not as "victimless" a crime as it may seem. Software developers, distributors, and, ultimately, end users, are all hurt by piracy.
>>730809553Revelation 16:13 KJVAnd I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
>>730809931You're thinking of absolutes. Not every pirate is a lost sale, but some pirates are lost sales and these companies have calculated that in the long run it is a loss.Speaking of my own experience I had already separated cash to buy MGS Delta. But then the pirated version leaked before the official one even released. So I pirated it to play early and in the end decided not to buy the game because, well, I was already playing it and the pirated version worked fine. Not letting people pirate during the first few weeks/months is essential for avoiding lost sales. After that it doesn't matter that much. But you're delusional if you think the possibility of pirating at day 1, or even earlier than that, doesn't make them lose even one single dollar.
