but at least bowser give a good fight considering that he happenes right after grodus or whatver name the X leader got, meaning you dont get to heal and get new items or whatever.
yes its true, you can cheese by gaining a level right after beating the first boss, making the 2nd fight a lot easier, but most poeple wont plan it on their first run because they wont expect 2 boss fight in a row right before the final boss

Bowser was never a credible threat.
You beat him in his first game by jumping over him and destroying the paper-thin bridge he stands on using the emergency bridge-breaking axe that he keeps next to the bridge at all times for some reason, over his pit of lava.

The only game where bowser seems competent is actually Paper Mario 64, ironically.
