I can't get any more than a few inputs in before the enemy goes full hyper armor and pushes through any combo I try to put out, literally 75% of my damage on a bosses health bar comes from Yokai Shift and the rest I'm just running around and poking them. It just feels very janky and disjointed of an experience and I don't know why

I know you're supposed to combat this with ki pulse but half the time you're going to get hit for trying to get a good pulse off and if you ignore it you can't really engage in combat besides run and poke. I don't know man, I want to love this game like I did the first one since everyone seems to suck off 2 over 1 but I just can't see it

Get your toughness up and encumberance down. No idea why you're having problems since stringing combos with flux 2 and dodging in low stance is a reliable way of doing damage. Here's your (You)

Did you learn to flux yet because that will help with ki management. For yokai you should be doing the same thing you did in 1; break their ki then stagger them with combo strings so they can't retaliate. Break the horns or other weak spots to break them faster. They did change it slightly from 1 because horn breaks now just cause a small stagger and large amount of ki damage instead of an instant break but you can still break them fairly quickly. Remember that yokai abilities don't consume ki so you can use them to extend combos and get that last hit in.
