The demake plague is a prime example of why videogames aren't art or, more precisely, they're not perceived by their audiences as art and THEREFORE aren't art.
If the very deliberate artistic and aesthetic choices can be arbitrarily changed by random Pajeet and not only is not looked down upon, it's actually actively encouraged by the media (see: bluep*int's generally good reputation) and the audience then they never mattered in the first place.
These same people that don't see games as art will then be funneled into the industry, spread their mindset, and the cycle continues.

It is extremely easy to make "AAA" "Quality" videogames which are technically impressive but look like shit due to no artist input, simply by dumping stock realism assets into the latest jeet-proof industry game maker engine and then pressing the realistic lighting preset

The simplification of UI has sucked so badly. I never played the game in your pic and only know from gmods that the guy is a photographer and journalist. The top image looks like a news broadcast and the bottom looks like a bland game menu. Not just remakes suffer from this, but new games in general always design a UI with maximum efficiency without any style or personality. It is possible to do both style and ease of use. And even then, some new UI are retarded to use.

Perfect recreations of reality are now easy to achieve by simply copying reality and throwing hardware at it. But with no art direction your perfect recreation of reality has no more artistic value than a random streetview image. When we couldn't access that level of fidelity we had to instead create an abstraction, and an abstraction requires you to make choices. You can't have all of the detail, so you have to choose which details are important, you can't have "real" light so you have to consciously choose how you're going to light the scene, manually placing light and shadow and highlighting what you think matters, you can't just 3D scan an object or mocap a person so you have to think about how things should look and how they should move. All of the choices required to create abstracted visuals are artistic choices and it's these choices made by human beings which communicate information to the player. You know through these choices what the artist wanted you to look at, what they saw value in, what they thought was important and wanted to keep, what kinds of feelings they wanted to evoke. Those choices provide the actual Soul and aesthetic of your game

When you achieve perfect realism all you have succeeded in doing is removing all of the human decisions which gave your visuals character, leaving you with empty slop

It's mainly the fact that realistic lighting combined with high density of object detail results in a muddier final image. Visuals design in a video game is meant to serve gameplay purposes, to be "functionally pretty". Simulation for its own sake will obscure critical information, like a tech demo with no consideration for the player experience.
