This is a perfectly acceptable 8/10 game
It's nothing mindblowing but it's pretty enjoyable when you just want to turn your brain off and pulp a ton of enemies with your big gun

Uh what
>>
>>730822090
I wish the secrets and explorarion had more impact, ammo in the main levels are bizarrely plentiful for the amount of guns you have, and every time I found a secret it was like discoverihg the game had power ups for the first time. A duke3d style inventory could have really helped
>>
Name 3 better boomer shooters that aren't ion fury. I dropped hedon.

dusk, turbo overkill, cultic
>>
Since their adding Khorne dudes in the sequel, Slaanesh is the only absent chaos god. Where is he? Does James Workshop hate sex that much?

The mapmakers sure do love shipping containers.

turbo ok is a zoomer shooter.

>8/10
Try 6/10. Without the basedhammer motif it would be a 5/10 at best
>>
Yeah.
>>
>shoot enemy
>they explode into gore
I been spoilt by customizing nash's gore mod for doom, I need these games to have good death animations with gore when it actually fits!
>>
This game improved alot when I installed a mod that triggered the taunt after a kill
>>
>>730823019
You're shooting them with tiny rockets, i'd say the gore fits.

Wasn't a fan of the episode structure resetting your weapons, as that's more of an old game thing that made sense when they were trying to sell Episode 1 as piecemeal in stores for $10.

Though I have proof most Steam users are casuals when it comes to FPSes, even in ones where you can literally savescum to win.

>>730822332
If you call things "boomer shooter", you are a retarded faggot and something really awful should happen to you IRL. Nonsense phrase pushed by absolute faggots.
>>
>>730823465
What would you call the subgenre then?

But there's a big difference between boomer shooters and shit like cod or battlefield.
That's like wanting Age of Empires, Civilization and Fire Emblem to all be called only "strategy". Technically right, but they follow different ideas.

It's worth using when you get those upgrades on it, buuuut, I have a tough time justifying whipping it out in the HUGE arena encounters.

>Filters the average supposed FPS fan

>>730823914
But which came first? COD and Battlefield should have to come up with their own stupid alternate names for the genre.
>>
>>730824080
God i hate these motherfuckers. It was incredibly cathartic watching them stroll into the instakill gear hole in that one level.

yes remember their original audience is middle white boys with disposable money from their parants so having models with tits out like the old Deiz Demonettes is something that caused a bit of a stir with those middle class parants

I'm fine with the term boomer shooter referring to contemporary indie FPS games that adopt a classic/retro overall gameplay design
>>
>>730822090
its biggest problem is that it overstay its welcome

Agreed. It would've been helped if there were more varied mission objectives throughout the stages than just "find red/blue/yellow key to open door and reach exit" and more varied boss encounters to keep things fresh. Also a lot of arena fights could've done with having less enemy density but more lethality, because holy HELL do some of them take a lifetime to slog through. The gameplay loop should be like a rollercoaster with high points and low points, but some arena fights are just so long you never get a chance to take a breath from running around and shooting everything chasing you and they're simply exhausting. I can think of a few arenas from Forges of Corruption that really stretch the limits of patience. And horde mode, but at least that mode is for people who are asking for it.

I actually hate when games dont reset your inventory across episodes, it loses a lot of tension if you're spending most of the game fully stocked on every option.
I genuinely enjoy having my skill tested with an unoptimal arsenal

>>
>>730828752
To expand, I wish the new age ideas of these games leaned a little more towards survival horror than character action with guns. Ammo never feels like a balancing tool anymore

Hispanics don't like FPSes, and they especially weren't playing them in the 90's when PCs were stupidly expensive.
>>
>>730823465
Only 16% of people even beat chapter 2, I think it's just that people stopped playing early on. No idea why

Dawn of War fans would rather be RTSing
